Ott Abuse Of Players Must End

Folks, if I can just add one more thing to the excellent posts made on this thread so far. I'm aware that Michael Higdon heard some verbal abuse which was directed personally to him before the match actually STARTED on Saturday. Think about that for a minute. I, along with many on here will have no idea how these individuals think this kind of treatment is meant to build confidence or help a player during a match. Sadly, this also filters through to the rest of the guys on the park.

Tonight we need to get 100% behind the team and OUR number 9 from the start. During the warmup, when the teams come out, during the match.......even if we go behind. Drown out the negativity and lets see how the team perform with the crowd SUPPORTING them.

Great to see the manager come out and back Higdon so strongly. Also shows he does think more deeply about man management than some on here would give him credit for.

Just one more thing tho gaffer, let Henrik/Murph/McHugh start up front tonight alongside the Big Man. Thats the kinda support he really needs!

Mon the gaffer, mon the Big Man, mon the 'Well!

Genuine question: Is there a point when the club can say 'If all you're going to do is abuse our players, then you'll no longer be allowed into Fir Park'?

yeah like any business they have a duty of care towards their staff and can effectively bar you for any reason! The Higdon thing turned from criticism too abuse, yeah criticise a player when he performs poorly yeah but abuse is not needed especially when Higdon has scored 10 goals this season.. especially when we have own goal specialists in the team (don't start on him though he's bang on)

I had a major go at an old codger, who ironically was the spit of Victor Meldrew, over his abuse of Higdon tonight. A couple of others joined in after I got the ball rolling and we never heard a peep out him thereafter.

Celebrated in his face when Nicky Law scored. You'd think tonight, a great team performance and Higdon in particular doing a superb job I wouldn't need to post this, but it shows that some of our support are braindead completely when it comes to football.

That's what sums up the fact that, for a lot of these people, the actual goings-on on the park have absolutely fuck all to do with the abuse they're dishing out, which is why I said on the last page that - for some people at least - it must run deeper than just being over-critical football fans.

Michael Higdon was fantastic tonight, like every other player in claret and amber. He won almost everything in the air (including the flick ons that led to our 2nd and 3rd goals), he brought other players into play, showed a number of good touches, closed down defenders, and pretty much did absolutely everything you'd expect of a centre forward outwith scoring, and given he's our top scorer and we scored three goals tonight (two of which he was directly involved in) I think that can be forgiven. For anyone to still dish out the abuse quite clearly shows that it has nothing to do with performance levels or footballing ability.

After our game on Tuesday I know from within the dressing room, the players were delighted with the backing we gave them, we now need to keep this going!!! Starting Saturday,

^^^^ This ^^^^

Nobody can think it's a coincidence that our best home performance of the season comes in the game when the crowd provide the best atmosphere, and everybody gets right behind the team.

What's a shame is the fact it took a wrongly disallowed goal and a red card for it to happen!

Everybody needs to get right behind the boys on Saturday. Whether we start well or poorly, whether the ref's a donkey or not. With everybody kicking out the negative sh!te and creating as good an atmosphere as possible we can help the team open a 6 point gap on our two rivals for 3rd place.

As the boy says on the PA at Fir Park before every game: "C'mon 'Well fans, let's hear you get right behind the 'Well"
