Maybe some have forgotten the Humph is away with the Reggae Boyz at the moment too. He's had a little involvment in the double-header freindly with Panama He picked up his first cap last Monday in a 0-1 home defeat to Panama. From the report I found he came off the bench for the majority of the second half. Whitmore rang in the changes in the second half, with introduction of a number of offensive players, including Chris Humphery. The Motherwell player, who was making his debut, had one moment of note in the 63rd minute when he executed a 35-yard drive which cannoned off the right post. Outside of that though, the 24-year-old's first touch looked unsure and he did not link up well with Xavian Virgo on the right. He then got just 5 minutes at the end of the reverse fixture as Jamaica went down 2-1 in Panama. Will be interesting to see if he's done enough to get an opportunity in the upcoming competetive fixtures in the CONCACAF qualifiers wor the 2014 World cup. The Reggae boyz face Guatemala at home on Friday and then a trip to Antigua and Barbuda the following Tuesday. Meanwhile Henrik has one more opportunity for some game time when Estonia travel to France on Tuesday evening. Good Luck to the pair of them!!!! ETA - Found a video... MARLON KING and fellow Britain-based striker, Chris Humphrey, have been axed from Jamaica's senior men's football squad for its first two matches in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Semi-Final Round competition for breaking curfew rules on their recent tour of Panama. The decision, communicated in a Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) release yesterday afternoon, was taken by Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore Whitmore and comes just ahead of the team's opening matchup against Guatemala at the National Stadium on Friday. Both players will miss that match and the June 12 away fixture against Antigua and Barbuda. "The Jamaica Football Federation wishes to advise that head coach of the national senior team, Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore, has made the decision to drop Marlon King and Chris Humphrey from the squad for the first two World Cup Qualifying games for breaking curfew rules," the release stated. Zero-tolerance approach "This decision is consistent with the head's coach's zero-tolerance approach for acts of indiscipline and indiscretion." The players were included in Jamaica's squad for their return friendly international football match against Panama in Panama City on Friday night. Jamaica lost the game 2-1, to close out their two-match series on a losing note as they had lost the opening clash 1-0 at the National Stadium. King and Humphrey are both late additions to the current Jamaica squad. Humphrey made his debut in the first Panama match at 'The Office'. King, a long-time Reggae Boy, was actually withdrawn from the starting team for the Panama game last Friday with defender Nyron Nosworthy, because Whitmore said he had a "niggling" injury and preferred to rest him for this Friday's important WCQ game against Guatemala at 'The Office'. "Both players (King and Nosworthy) are nursing niggling injuries and for me, it made no sense to start them in today's game and risk injuring them further," Whitmore had said on Friday ahead of the Panama game. "We will need them in the more important game against Guatemala next Friday, so we have to manage them carefully and ensure that they are fully fit and available for selection then."As it turns out, King, not for the first time, has ruled himself out of Jamaica's team for transgressing the team's disciplinary code, given an offence that took place between the end of the game and the team's departure from Panama. The mercurial striker, with a remarkable scoring rate for Jamaica of 12 goals in 21 matches, was banned in 2006 following a match against England, when the JFF was presided over by Crenston Boxhill. The Jamaica contingent returned to the island yesterday and went to their training base at Braco, where they will continue preparations for the opening WCQ against Guatemala on Friday, June 8, at 8:30 p.m. at the National Stadium. See here The squad sees the recall of midfielder Jason Morrison and Tremaine Stewart, as well as Lovell Palmer, Errol Stevens and Jermaine Taylor, who is suspended for Friday's game. The squad is completed by Donovan Ricketts, Dwayne Miller, Demar Phillips, Xavian Virgo, Nyron Nosworthy, Damion Stewart, Adrian Mariappa, Claude Davis, Rohan Reid, Ewan Grandison, Joel Senior, Keammar Daley, Luton Shelton, Ryan Johnson, Ricardo Fuller, Je-Vaughn Watson, Dane Richards and Rudolph Austin. It was good to see him get some international recognition, you would like to think it might help net an extra few quid when it comes to selling him on, it'll certainly boost Motherwell's profile and we can possibly use it as a selling point that we help forge international careers at Fir Park but.... ....If it does set his back his international career a bit I don't imagine Stuart McCall will be that upset he isn't making 12 hour or whatever transatlantic journeys half a dozen times a season. It probably won't give us that much more info, but it's good fun to read the posts in as stereotypical a Jamaican accent as possible. Page 8 of that thread is now talking about Humphrey's statement from today - to be fair to the Jamaican fans posting, they seem fairly supportive of Humphrey and quite critical of the national team's management. My favourite post though is: Word to Humphries, if you want live a long life my yute stay away from that bone head Marlon King. His time soon come.
