David
It appears that the ins/outs thread is veering off topic, so I thought a general chit-chat thread for anything Motherwell-related to the Newco situation post-Division 3 announcement would be an idea. Nobody knows what the eventual outcome will be. The club expect to lose several hundred 000 £'s for Rangers being out the SPL, from hospitality and the 2 home games we would ordinarily budget for. We can survive that with the help of 2 home Euro ties (probably only 2) and the fact we have made no signings and got rid of 10 players. But if SKY re-nogotiate anything like to the level that Regan and Doncaster have been forecasting, then a handful of clubs in the SPL will be facing administration and one of those clubs could be Motherwell. We have the Well Society money and that + extra pledges from fans may see us to the end of this season. My hope is that Sky stick with what is on the table and we move on. If they reduce the deal then only by a small %, so that a more equitable distribution amongst the SPL mean any more reductions in income can be kept to a minimum. Sadly right now Sky + ESPN are calling the shots. It is annoying and depressing, but my hope is the damage to their brand and subscription numbers north of the border will mean they will take a pragmatic view. As much as I'd like to believe that Sky will honour the original contract I can't see them doing that, and I wouldn't blame them if they didn't. They're in the business of making money, and why they would want to pay the same price for what they will see as an inferior product is beyond me. An SPL without Rangers in it is less attractive to virtually every non-Scottish football fan who follows our game and doesn't support one of the other SPL clubs. The sad thing is, if Sky do decide they wish to renegotiate the original terms of the contract there'll be no doubt that it'll be them who face the flak, when it should actually be those in charge of our game who marketed the whole SPL around two clubs in the first place. The fact that there is even talk of there being a termination clause in the television contract should either one of the Old Firm clubs fall out of the SPL is ridiculous. Our chairmen were the ones who signed that contract, and as such should be held completely responsible if it comes back to bite us in the backside. I think Sky would need to think long and hard about what the Celtic fans would do if they pulled the contract. Like it or not they have many more fans than most clubs combined and if they choose to not to renew subscriptions because they cannot see their team then this could hurt Sky. This may be the one saving grace in this issue.

Spiderpig
Scotish football will adapt and survive and be the better for it...no Rangers in spl for a few years means changes to voting structure...fairer split of what reduced cash if any there is..no more dominance and arogance of the ugly sisters. It up to fans of all the other clubs to stand up and be counted now...to prove we dont need the blue ugly and the shite they bring with them....steelmen forever
