Stu
No, it's the job of the person who is actually being paid to deal with it. In this day & age you'll see very few people confronting strangers who are acting up. It's simply not going to happen, and you can't expect people to do that. No, it's the fucktards who actually didn't know how to behave at fault. If they did, the stewards role would be irrelevant. How anyone else can be blamed is beyond me.

How anyone else can be blamed is beyond me. I'm obviously not saying that the idiots who did what they did aren't at fault. I'm saying that it's not up to the regular punter sitting in the stands to police their fellow fans. Keeping an eye on friends and so forth, fair enough, but nothing more than that.
mio
I'm an old codger who sits in the Main Stand and i'm usually the first to criticise Motherwell fans for being a pain in the arse but i thought the brigade in the east stand were fantastic last night and added to a great atmosphere, they didnt shut up all game and they are worth their weight in gold for the team!! Now lets get this straight, they threw paper on the park.....Paper?? why is there such a fuss? we were playing Greeks, they get scudded on a weekly basis with lighters, coins, flares and at times bricks..........Surely a few sheets of A4 Fullscrap is not something anyone should be concerned about? The only danger would be if the players lifted it up and got a nasty paper cut!! Hope all this fuss doesn't prevent these fans coming back as the club needs them!! GazzyB
Think the issue is moreso the fact that the club shouted over the tannoy to stop it and it instantly multiplied by about ten. Either way it shouldn't have been happening in the first place. Don't care if it's paper or a brick, you shouldn't be chucking stuff at players while the game is going on! weeyin
Now lets get this straight, they threw paper on the park.....Paper?? why is there such a fuss? UEFA frowns upon *anything* being thrown at players on the pitch to such an extent that they are prepared to dish out fines to the clubs. The club knows this and asked the fans to stop doing this. Some fans continued to do this. The club might now get fined. See why there is such a fuss now?
Orinoco
maybe if we talk about it long enough someone will notice and then fine us! As for the display it was very good, just a shame that the players came out 5 mins earlier than required tho.
john_M_F_C
iain, most of us are happy that some of you put so much extra effort into helping to create a better atmosphere for us all mate. i dont think you will find anyone that is not. however you got to agree that the eejits that threw "a few bits of paper" directly AT opposition players were simply MORONS ( and that is to all of them throughout the east, not just around your section cos we had afew morons up the other end, and right along the touchline), especially in response to being asked by OUR club over the tannoy to stop it, taht may result in our club being fined for their stupidity it is possible that the cost of fixing the broken seats and any fine could take away a good percentage of any profit made from last night and cost us potentially 2-3 new players wages yep have fun, make a lot of noise but try a little self policing to ensure the more stupid amongst our support dont ruin it for yourselves and us all. if we do get fine can the club now support any future displays? that would be difficult for them imo Don't tell us how to deal with the end section. Plenty of self policing. Lets face it, boys of a certain age will act like boys of a certain age. Most of the debris at the corner came at half time and never got cleared. The malicious throwing of paper missiles came from the 2nd and 3rd last sections, if your going to throw a bit of paper, you'll throw anything. Fuck, seen a cup of juice go flying, there's been mars bars and pie on the park before, I don't know how the club can support the pie stall after its providing the ammunition for these animals when there isn't a display. you are all fucking idiots(except the folk that like us)
weeyin
maybe if we talk about it long enough someone will notice and then fine us! Dee
Guys, firstly thank you all for the excellent participation with the display. I am very pleased with the outcome and some of the photos are crackers! When the team came out around 7 minutes early I feared that the East would not be busy enough and we had wasted a fair bit of money but photos prove that it was well worth it. The atmosphere at times was electric and hopefully we can see more of this going forward. It was fantastic to see even the Main Stand on their feet for "Stand Up for the Motherwell". In regards to the paper getting thrown at the Pano players, that was stupid. Nobody can defend it. What I do think is important though is that people realise it wasnt those who set up the display who were throwing the paper. Its very easy to point the finger and blame and yes we will be the easy target. We dont want people throwing the paper which we bought onto the pitch as like others have mentioned it could affect us being allowed to carry out future displays and I think I speak for the majority of 'Well fans when I say that would be a big step backwards. The broken chairs issue is something that we will discuss together and potentially with the club. Chairs will get broken. For us though, if they are broken in our section then I think we should take part responsibility and help out with the repairs & the repair costs. I'm not sure the opinion for the rest of the lads but thats my thoughts. Boys will be boys as they say and I am glad the club pointed out that there was no malice in any damage caused however with a bit of self-policing and control we could come up with a solution. We will continue to try and enhance the atmosphere and overall matchday experience at Fir Park and we hope we can do that with the backing of all Motherwell fans and importantly the club.
mightywellscott
Well said Dee, hats off to you guys for bringing an atmosphere to the ground that has been missing for a few years , see you all in Athens
Burn_Broomfield
If you're going to throw something at an opposition player bounding down the touchline, make sure it's something that might stop him like a £2 coin, a dart, pipe bomb, IED or AP Mine. A bit of paper isn't going to do any serious damage or stop any potential attacks is it? These people really need to think about what they are doing before acting. As for UEFA fines, I've been at games where players have been pelted with coins, lighters, pen knives and any other implement fans could get their hands on and not so much as slap on the wrists has been handed out. I wouldn't be wetting my pants too much with regards to that.
real dosser
Broomfield I'm sure you have been at the matches you talk about and I have been at games where stuff has been thrown onto the pitch without any damage being done to the club. BUT I am also the father of one of the Bovril Two who were forced to give up their season tickets for 5 years for DROPPING a plastic cup with half an inch of Bovril onto the Track around the pitch. The clubs response was they had to do it as it was in the referees report. So if any of the officials or the UEFA delegate on Tuesday night mention it in an official report Motherwell could well be fined for the behaviour of some clowns in the East Stand. I'm not blaming DEE or the guys who went to the effort of arranging the display as they are doing a terrific job of encouraging the support of the team ( It's beginning to reach me and I am sitting the other side of halfway ) So keep up the good work at the far end but if you were one of the guys who threw the paper onto the pitch just have a wee think before doing it again. Mon the Dossers
santheman
Yeah Dee well said and I think you speak for 99.9% of 'Well fans. I watch (and film) all the guys in most games and all they are interested in is supporting their team.

mightywellscott
Once again I applaud the efforts you guys go to, to support the team, having spoken to McCall and some of the players regularly over the past year and especially after the game on Tuesday, they are all behind you guys and really really appreciate the efforts you make. You guys never bad mouth the team unlike some of the Motherwell fans in certain sections and always try and support the team and generate an atmosphere which I have said previously has been sadly lacking in recent seasons. I also welcome your comments about self policing as no one wants the club to be tarnished and you guys are the obvious easy targets. So please keep up the good work, all of the real 'Well fans appreciate it
