thewhitepele
Just heard we have been fined 20k for the hearts game being off, the fine is suspended and is payable if we have another game off this season.

gunn
seems to be fair! Thought it was going be worse!!
fat_tony
Yeah, it sounds like the fine won't be payed unless we have another game off this season or fail to take remedial action during the summer.
DC'd
Surely with the worst of the weather seemingly over, and it approaching March and thus Spring-time and warmer conditions. Surely, the chances of another postponement will get slimmer by the day.. Just a case of how much the park is going to dig up, as well we all saw what a poor condition it is in on Sat. So, fortunately we could well escape this with fuck all of a fine... can't complain.
Neil
We may escape the fine, but the threat of the 20k will force the club into action, and the cost of a total overhaul will be a lot moer than 20k. Hopefully they'll do it right this time, lets see if this new "new" regime makes a change.
numpty
“The honest fact of the matter is that a section of the under-soil heating pipes under the pitch have failed. Nothing to do with us sticking a fork through them last season, I'm sure
daver
I can understand the SPL's decision but if there is torrential rain which floods all the parks in Scotland we'll receive a fine if our game is called off. Should they not have limited the condition to a frozen pitch if that was the problem? The official statement seems to indicate that we will dig up part of the pitch and repair the pipes affected. Surely this will have no effect on the condition of the pitch in general other than to ensure it will be able to be heated. Are we still going to end up with the usual threadbare surface or has the balloon had a damaging effect on the pitch?
Steve Diggle
Nothing to do with us sticking a fork through them last season, I'm sure The worry now is waterlogging.
Jay
Reckon we've gotten off lightly on this! Looking forward to reading Pie & Bovril in the next few days!
another number
Wasn't expecting this much leniency at all. Thought were were definately going to get a straight up fine. Jay you're right, Pie and Bovril will be quite some read
sausage_factory
I can understand why we've been fined, but doesn't taking money off an already cash-strapped club make it even less likely that their pitch will be in a good state?
fatcalf
Just what the decision makers at the club hoped for, a fine sufficiently less than the cost of overhauling the pitch. Job done. Even better that it's suspended.
Steelmen
“The honest fact of the matter is that a section of the under-soil heating pipes under the pitch have failed. East_Stand_Al
Have to agree with all thats been said we dodged a bullet on this one and the club now HAVE to act upon this and get the pitch sorted (It couldn't cope with being patched up until we move to ravenscraig )
underboyleheating
At last the club have had to admit that part of our undersoil heating is fucked. You just wonder how long it has been that way and how long they would have left it to avoid forking (pardon the pun) out for the repair. Maybe now after this wrap on the knuckles we might at long last see John Boyle fulfilling his promise of a decent pitch. Then again... punk_in_drublic
We got off very lightly. Its times like this that we know how it feels to be an old firm fan!
Katie
Should count ourselves lucky, quite a light punishment. Surely now no excuse for not fixing our problems with the pitch, USH etc.
stuwell
I still don't think we will get the USH repaired. I think they will just stick £20000 aside from next seasons budget and pay the fine when we get caught out again. Its still be the cheaper option as I've heard £80000 to repair and re-lay the pitch. Wellfan1984
Depends if the SPL said anything about upping the fine. If not fuck it! Pay the 20K and hope the next one is just another suspended fine The reaction on P&B would be reason enough not to fix it
El Grew
Methinks this is merely a temporary stay of execution.

Joe Wark The Legend
Should count ourselves lucky, quite a light punishment. Surely now no excuse for not fixing our problems with the pitch, USH etc. It's only diddy teams that get punished Taken from Evening Telegraph Dundee. COWDENBEATH have been hit with a suspended £5000 fine due to problems with their pitch and floodlights. They have been given until January to recify matters

Dont be daft, the next fine after that will probably £50k and who knows how much it will be the time after that. Even an £80k repair is cheaper than the alternative.
