TvTotherwell
Ian Skelly, can't remeber ever seeing a strip before that with a sponsor!
Spiderpig
Ian Skelly? Agree with that, they changed to Motorola at the start of the 1991/92 season just before the Katowice game
weeyin
February 1984 to the end of that season was when we had our first shirt sponsor. I won't cheat by answering, because I checked it out on the interwebs.
Tamwell
Definitely Scottish brewers...there was a thread on this a while back. Think theres a picture in 'well worth the wait' that backs it up. Mid eighties maybe?

Andy_P
Whether it was Scottish Brewers or Scottish and Newcastle it was certainly in either 82/83 or 83/84 as I remember it on the Patrick strips.

cambo97
What was the score with Stelrad, I seem to remember them as a sponsor at one point, probably before Scottish Brewers.
Davie Shanks Fan Club
What was the score with Stelrad, I seem to remember them as a sponsor at one point, probably before Scottish Brewers. If I remember correctly Stelrad sponsored the reserves around the same time as Scottish & Newcastle sponsored the first team Edited September 5, 2012 by Davie Shanks Fan Club
WilliePettigrew
The correct answer is Scottish Brewers on the Patrick kit from February 1984 to the end of the season.
alls_well
The first shirt sponsor I remember was for our first league game back in the Premier League with Jock Wallace as manager where we drew 2-2 with the long forgotten club Glasgow Rangers. Think Bruce Cleland scored both and I'm sure it was Scottish and Newcastle logo in the middle of the shirts.

numpty
Is that Iain McLeod? Yep, looks like him. We quite often used to get his comps because my dad worked with his dad

Andy_P
That's him. Looks like the "Thou shalt not pass" photo from the review-of-the-season booklet they published. Not that it particularly matters but I think the photo with the "Thou shalt not pass" tag was set against a different Ian McLeod shot - possibly against Hearts and possibly even with the evil Walter Kidd and not quite so evil Stewart McLaren in the same shot. I think it was published in the magnificently titled "Souvenir Brochure" that was issued when we won the First Division in 1981'82. The photo Brazilian has posted I think is against Clyde from the following season. I have that brochure tucked away somewhere up the folks loft. The folks came back from that season's Player of the Year dance with most of the player photos autographed. Tommy O'Hara instantly became my favourite player by signing "To Andrew, Best Wishes, Tommy O'Hara". What a man!! A personalised autograph!!!! I think he got freed about six weeks later.... underboyleheating
There is a boy who goes to the games wearing a match worn version of this shirt, complete with the Scottish Brewers logo (anyone know him?).
