Ryan Fraser 400K?

I think he's only completed 3 full 90 minutes. But he has looked a talent and there is certainly potential there.

Seems to me (much like Scott Allan last season) the player and his agent have managed to engineer a move based on very little.

He's only 17 as far as I know. So even when his deal runs out at the end of the season Aberdeen would still get a £250k development fee for him regardless.

For someone to lure him away now they will have to pay more than that to make it worth Aberdeen's while, which goes some way to explaining the 400k being touted.

Unless you play for cash strapped Motherwell of course, where we apparently have to take a hit on a development fee in order to keep us ticking over for the next few months.

That's kind of the point though, and ties back to what's being said in the other thread. Thanks to a few different parties including Craig Brown...Everyone knows Ryan Frasers name at 17, after 3 full games. Jamie Murphy was at Motherwell for 11 years and it's only in the last couple that people have properly heard of him.

Aye, but the fip side of that is that we had his services for 11 years, and in recent times in particular, his contributions have undoubtedly helped our financial position. Probably more than if we he sold him 3 or 4 years ago for 300k or whatever.

As a club, our biggest hurdle is our complete lack of credit facilties. So 125k in the hand is more valuable to us in cahsflow terms. We have also gone through a period of not selling anyone - which has helped the team continuty, but wrecked our business plan of selling one player per season.

We supposedly knocked back 175k for Henrik, so it hasn't been a case of bending over every time someone waves a wad.

I think the main reason for this is down to the treatment he came in for on at times. I don't remember people banging on about him taking teams apart (flashes of ability maybe). Most of the time he was being talked about was whether player putting crunching takles in on him should have seen red.

Oh of course, im not saying it would have been better to have a 400k offer 5 years ago, as opposed to the 5 years service and everything that came with it. But it goes a long way to explaining part of the reason between the 2 situations. If Aberdeen had dealt with Fraser in the same way that we dealt with Murphy...they wouldn't have had a 400k bid either.

Another promising youngster who's had his head filled with nonsense by an agent who stands to profit by a move.

No disrespect, but Bournemouth FFS :notworthy:

I never really get it when people say this. If I were a footballer at 17 playing for Aberdeen and Bournemouth came in for me i'd jump at it. More money every week coupled with the opportunity of progressing up the leagues, compare that to playing at Aberdeen doing what exactly?

I agree Bop I think Bournemouth is a very good move for the lad. They have a very good young promising manager in Eddie Howe, lots of cash and play good football. Give him a year down there in the lore divisions to toughen up and I'm sure a move upwards will beckon.
