Dezz
I think with a little winding up from the east stand he could crack. Also, am I right in saying the last player we paid a fee for was Stevie Hammell returning to the club from Southend in 2008? Yea I think you're right. Was it not a fair amount (for us anyway?) about £180k or something?
Al B
We need a banner for behind the goal at Rugby Park that says "We'll catch this one Tom"

I'm not sure of the exact figure, it was over £100k anyway, which by our standards, is high.

Aye, did we not get something insane like £180k for Jim Paterson though? Wiki says we got £250k for him. No danger.
Dr.Pepper
I mind reading teletext at the time saying we got 100k for Paterson and spent 110k on hammell.

No danger. Ahh maybe that's where I'm getting that figure from. I definitely remember Paterson leaving for something along the lines of £250k and us getting Hammell back and making a decent profit. A fine piece of business. Cheers stepover! Edit : old BBC article I just found says £250k for Paterson when he went to Plymouth.
East Stand Well Boy
Jim Paterson wasn't even worth 25p himself, but his stepovers were gold! Who's he playing for now? I remember seeing his last season playing for shamrock rovers vs spurs in Europe!

Guest
Mind he played centre-half for a couple of games under Malpas? (I think it was Malpas?) We've come some distance like.

East Stand Well Boy
I wish my stepovers on Sundays dazzled defences like his did. I'd rather have him back than Hateley however. Hateley = Consistently shite, Paterson = consistently average.

East Stand Well Boy
So shite he hardly missed a game in the time he was here.... Too shite to play his favoured position, only right back in the squad. Also helps to have mark Hateley as your dad when it's another ex ranger managing us. Motherwell Fan
I don't quite get the hatred from some people towards Tom Hateley. He was a good solid player for us who was consistent throughout his time at Fir Park.

Pepper
I'd take him back in a minute. If he was still here there is no question he would have started in place of Ramsden last night. It's a no brainer.
East Stand Well Boy
Yes, he would've, but that doesn't mean he's not shite. Ramsden is a good centre half, he's not suited to right back.
stuwell
As a right back he was a good solid player who consistently played well for us and in most game I saw him play in he got pass marks, to suggest he was a shite player for us and we are better off without him is just plain stupid.

milo
I really don't get the ill feeling towards Hateley. He played nearly every game for us in seasons where we finished 2nd and 3rd!?!? He's obviously been a bit daft here, but I really hope he doesn't get booed when he comes back like Reynolds did as that would be just be fucking embarrassing. The guy did us a really good turn. daver
His delivery of corners was frustrating at times but it was frustrating last night as well. We can't afford the type of player that will constantly deliver perfect crosses but he was a good, consistent right back who I would have been more than happy to have retained. I would certainly have had more confidence in him than I do in Kerr.
