Ya Bezzer!
The difference being that in England they won't overreact and change the law because of one or two groups of fans. Trouble in once match in Scotland saw the ban coming in to force. As it was the only match that matters in Scottish football and nobody else matters. In England one or two clubs do not represent 50 - 60% of the entire supporter base. Also if you think trouble in one match saw the ban coming then you are misinformed. The 1980 Scottish Cup Final was the straw that broke the camels back not a one off event in drunkeness and violence. I wouldn't envisage the same level of problems if alcohol was sold for limited periods within the stadium, rather than fans bringing in bags of cargo, but I think it would still cause some problems. All it takes is one guy to have one too many.
Frazzie
All it takes is one guy to have one too many. Guys can have one too many before they leave the pub. That's part of the reason why clubs have to pay through the nose for police and stewards.
Ya Bezzer!
Guys can have one too many before they leave the pub. That's part of the reason why clubs have to pay through the nose for police and stewards. If someone has had one too many outside the ground they probably wouldn't be allowed to enter the stadium. If they are already in the stadium and then can have one too many that's the crucial difference.
East_Stand_Al
In light of the events today I wonder if the lads involved would have been any less calm had they been able to drink more inside the ground?
Juan Kerse
Who knows but perhaps many people wouldn't get as mortal pre-match knowing its not your last drink for two hours...
Richie
The vast majority of those involved yesterday wouldnt have been of sufficient age to buy it in the ground anyway.
