Safe Standing At Fir Park, Do We Want It Back ?

I remember the bad old days at Easter Road and Tynecastle in the pouring rain.

I also remember the apparent good days in a seat under cover watching a Scottish Cup tie last December when it was something like minus six.

Both just as unpleasant as each other.

Evidently there's a demand for terracing. It surely suits all interests if that demand can be met so that a choice can be offered. I think it's that simple.

Its the "demand for terracing " with regard to Motherwell thats the problem here. Whatever style of standing areas / adaptable seating etc is adopted would cost significant cash to implement, so assuming that there is no diffrence in the ticket price for a seat or standing, would the club recoup that investment ? At Fir park the only guys i see standing are the bois in the east stand, and they do a fine job but their numbers are limited. Its a different consideration for a top EPL or european club with potentially 10,s of thousands of fans wanting to stand..where the extra investment might pay for itself, than for a club like ours where the demand might only be in the 100's.

Given the current financial constraints that most SPL clubs operate under i dont think that any extra financial outlay with no guarentee of a return would be a gamble they would take.

This is a pointless topic anyway. Even if we want it (and Id be up for standing myself) we simply cannot afford to rip out and replace regular seating with these rail seats so we get "safe" standing and wont be able to anytime in the near future. Unless of course we win the scottish cup or sell a player for a substantial fee but the chance of that happening is as non existant as our managers knowledge of goalkeepers
