Worrying Times

Yeah - this buyer sounds odd. Normally you'd look to keep an investor who is viewed as being 'good for the club' happy by talking them up or at least being neutral towards their possible objectives and general intentions. But it sounds like Satan is waiting to take us over.

Who that is - a bank? Someone who wants the land? Who knows, but that letter almost publicly decries them.

Would Boyle sell to someone that wasn't in the best interests of Motherwell? Have details of the potential buyer been revealed to the Well Society?

For months there's been a growing consensus that something is going in ebbing the sense as so it appears. While not an excuse, is the extent of our troubles putting a strain on the management and players? Probably so...

Basically the Well Society is a waste of time and hasn't raised the money it needs, hence the begging letter. Poor decisions behind the scenes have left us with the utter disaster.

So think for 1 minute about this....

Well Society gets the shares and then what? Rule by committee and start asking the fans to stump up more money each month/year??? This is Motherwell and last time I looks it wasn't the most affluent fan base.

Time we stopped pissing about, got some proper EXPERIENCED business minded people in with commercial acumen to sort this mess out, a decent commercial manager and chief exec type.

TBH, administration cannot be far away, either this season or next.

Change is a coming...

The Well Society has bailed the club out twice since it started. Maybe you see that as a waste of time, but for me, that was a good thing.

Boyle doesnt control the shares, unless the society members have been lied to by the clubs directors.

'There was a real danger of ownership of the club being lost to the local community for the first time'.

So who's in charge of surrendering ownership of the club? Surely if the potential takeover doesn't match due diligence, the offer would be rejected by Board/Boyle?

Hopefully there will be more details after the meeting on Thursday. Maybe the potential buyer is someone who wants to control the club - which would mean the end of The Society being able to take a majority share. Or maybe, the potential buyer is someone who wants to develop the ground into a new Asda.

Difficult to tell. A change of ownership isn't necessarily a bad thing, but equally could be a disaster.

As with all these things, the (usually legally necessary) secrecy makes it difficult to assess.

If a million quid load is all that's required to keep the "Community Club" the council should stump up the cash. Good for the community and a return on investment for the tax payer.

I have heard from a couple of people that Boyle wanted the money back he was owed if the Well Society didn't raise the cash. In that event he would wanting control and getting "Romanov" type guys involved......

Possibly a few dots starting to join up here.

Quite difficult to comprehend the trouble we could be in actually or the fall from grace we are about to experience.
