Yassin
This chap is rarely wrong (in fact I don't think he ever has been yet) Inside The SPFL @AgentScotland · 24m24 minutes agoButcher thought he'd get the Well job, wanted more info but then got impression he wasn't wanted, he pulled out of the running to save face Apart from when he is regularly wrong. GazzyB
Even if the new manager is appointed tomorrow morning it will give him a whopping day and a half to get to know the players before the massive massive game on Saturday. Bravo once again Motherwell. Mate seriously lighten up a bit.

Bravo once again Motherwell. Aye, much better we rush into an appointment in time for one game, than take a few extra days to make sure we hire the right man for the next few years.
eddiemunster
May I be the first to offer the traditional welcome to our new gaffer. YET-TO-BE-APPOINTED-GUY OUT!!!
Pepper
I reckon Butcher has been offered the St Mirren job. Thank fuck he's no coming back.
the traveller
Giving a serial failure like Butcher an interview does not auger well for the future running of the club if that's the way our new owners envisage our future direction lies. chummy
So basically Butcher has wasted our time with his application and interview.Wonder if we will ever find out why he has decided he no longer wants the job?Still, we have dodged a bullet as he is a shite manager. Or maybe his Hibs "gardening leave pay" is much more than we can offer him?
underboyleheating
Or maybe his Hibs "gardening leave pay" is much more than we can offer him? I didn’t realise he was still on their payroll.
one m in motherwell
Or maybe his Hibs "gardening leave pay" is much more than we can offer him? I suspect that's probably quite accurate. The board (although it's different personalities) will no doubt have felt obliged to speak to him given his previous connection with the club. He's also, from a media viewpoint, the most high profile of the SPFL folk in the frame, so no wonder he was being touted so much.
superward
Apart from when he is regularly wrong. Not since I have been following him which has been a fair wee while now. Either way I am sure he is spot on with this one.
superward
Giving a serial failure like Butcher an interview does not auger well for the future running of the club if that's the way our new owners envisage our future direction lies. But surely not hiring him is the main thing here? Is clear from the reports that we weren't interested, he got wind and a statement has been released to save face. Criticising the club at the smallest opportunity when they haven't even done something wrong is getting fucking tedious (not directly at you...a lot of other posters too)
El Grew
Given the latest turn of events I predict the new manager will be Mitchell Van Der Gaag with Kenny Black remaining as his assistant to provide the Scottish football scene / local knowledge. Mind you it's no exactly rocket science!
superward
Aye - I think it well be Mitch or Barraclough with Black and rest of staff staying. Cant see Masskant, Shiels or Black getting it.
Big Stall
So Butcher and Adams both felt the need to pull out of the running 'in the press'! Seems like a bit of face saving to me Oh, and regardless of why or how he pulled out, thank fuck!

bigshinyhead
Or maybe his Hibs "gardening leave pay" is much more than we can offer him? Probably this but even if he is trying to save face, what's the problem? Some cunts just need the slightest excuse to fire up the outrage bus. MelvinBragg
I'd imagine that the new manager will be unveiled tomorrow or Friday. Barraclough sadly has a feel of a Pat Fenlon/Steven Kenny appointment. Not saying that he would be, but that's my fear. Risks attached to all candidates... Coolhandluc
Any manager is a risk of course. We just hope the board come up with the right man for the job
superward
Barraclough and Van der Gaag joint favourite at 11/4 at Bet Victor. Barraclough in from 6/1 to 11/4 in the space of 24 hours and Van der Gaag starting to drift a little (he was at 5/2 at one point today) http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/motherwell/next-permanent-manager
santheman
How funny would it be if they appointed someone whose name hasn't been mentioned ANYWHERE in the last 2 weeks.
Coolhandluc
Aye maybe the board have had a wee quiet word with Tommy Craig
