The Next Manager, Who Would You Want And Who Could We Get

No surprise that a club that struggled to arrange a friendly in the summer is toiling to appoint a manger.

I appreciate the increased complexity of ownership change, something which shouldn't have been planned for mid-season, but we could have been more decisive with our plan when McCall jumped ship. Particularly with the writing on the wall after the Dundee game.

Aye, the club is obviously clueless, what with trying to shore up our losses, bring in new investment and hire a new manager to move the club forward.

Much more important that they appease the posters on here than make sure everything is in place before announcing it. (And didn't 'Flow point out on Twitter we had something like 8 pre-season games, it was just that most of them were behind closed doors?)

We had games.

How many games did we have with a majority first team players playing?

He did indeed. And that's worked out well given our glaring fitness issues.

A question. If the ownership issue is almost resolved and it's just a matter of getting signatures on paper, I'll assume any new owners would have been involved (informally, at least) in the interview/decision-making process this week so can't see any reason why we would have to wait til new owners were announced to confirm a new manager...

I cant help thinking that if Leanne Dempster was still running the club this whole new manager / ownership saga would have been better handled. Every week that goes by with little or no clear updates, progress or information from the club, it just gives the impression that we have people running the club who may not be up to the job.

Steven McMillan tweeted 'great to see big mitch back at motherwell...allegedly.'

Hopefully see an announcement soon.

If it is MVDG it will be interesting to see who will be appointed assistant. If Baaraclough has impressed could he possibly be brought in on some capacity given his current position is just as a scout for Huddersfield?

Seeing as the site keeps crashing.

Motherwell Football Club and the ‘Well Society can confirm that they have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mr Les Hutchison. If the transaction set out in the MOU is concluded, Mr Hutchison will provide the club with working capital finance, alongside the ongoing funding support provided by the Society, which has just provided another loan totalling £100k to the club

This finance will take the form of an interest free loan, repayable over a maximum period of five years.

During that time the Society Board have committed to growing both membership numbers and funds in order to demonstrate that the supporter base is fully behind the concept of fan ownership.

Once Mr Hutchison’s loan has been repaid in full, it is anticipated the Society will become the owners of the club. Mr Hutchison will effectively act as facilitator for the transition of ownership of the club to supporters, provided there is clear evidence that more of our fan base is willing to support the initiative.

We have now entered a 30-day exclusivity period to enable financial and legal due diligence to be undertaken.

Mr Les Hutchison stated: “I look forward to working with the Society and the Club to help them achieve their objective of fan ownership and be financially sustainable within five years.”

Mr Brian McCafferty, acting Chairman of the Society, added: “We would like to sincerely thank Les for his generous loan to the club which has kept alive hopes of community ownership. We emphatically believe the partnership between Les and the society provides, by far, the best solution to both the club’s short-term financial needs and its long -term sustainability and success.”

The club can also confirm that it has formally interviewed six potential candidates for the vacant manager’s position and hopes to be able to make an announcement of an appointment shortly.

The club is a fucking shambles and the most important people involved couldnt run a fuckin bath! MVG is meant to be the man,now its some nobody from the league of Ireland, or is it?

Were 6weeks after McCall resigned and nothing. No manager for the biggest game of our season against Utd and now no manager for our games against Ross Co & St Midden.

The society now all but own the club but they dont really as they cant afford it so the club is now technically owned by some Barbados millionaire whos loan has given the Society 5 years to raise the cash to afford to buy the club.

The whole thing is a bad joke

Has the club at any point named any names in relation to the manager search? There is all this talk of people turning them down, when it was made clear that no decision would be made until ownership was clear, and it seems that this just happened today

As far as ownership goes we have the option of owning it ourselves or hoping some millionaire buys us and has good intentions, and isn't as naieve as Boyle was. And since he no longer wants to be the owner someone has to take over.

It took me longer than 6 weeks to complete the transaction of buying a house after my offer was accepted - and that was a straightforward deal. I imagine the financing of a football club is a little more complicated given the structure of the deal from an offshore benefactor.

In my experience, lawyers both side of the Atlantic take their own sweet time to ratify the paperwork.

As far as I can make out only Butcher and Black have officially been interviewed. The club had only previously said that two had already been interviewed with another two due next week - no names mentioned - but the media assumed them to be Baraclough, Shiels and the two Dutchmen.
