ONeils40yarder
love him or loathe home, he spent a lot of cash on MFC He looked quite emotional as he handed the club over today. Thoughts?
weeyin
Definitely had our best interests at heart, even if he nearly bankrupted us! For all that, we were lucky he mostly learned from his mistakes and, unlike some owners, didn't walk away and leave us in the lurch. No doubt he kept us alive during the past few years and made sure a new owner also had the club's interest at heart.
dosser1886
Must have been quite an emotional day for him. Total respect for the guy and fair play to him. IMO he always did his very best for the club that he obviously loves. To the point of personally losing some serious amounts of cash. Made some mistakes but believe that we are lucky to have had someone such as him owning the club.
fergi4
Loved it when 'Well beat Aberdeen at Fir Park, then Boyle got in the ear of Craig Brown and sent the old cunt mad...brilliant! Would love to know what he said
The African
Boyle is typical of businessmen who take over football clubs and somehow lose the plot. It becomes a vanity project and sensible business practices go out the window. As it was, he paid the price for it and lost a lot of his own money and reputation. He was undoubtedly badly advised by people who he trusted; that wee c*** Nevin immediately springs to mind, and the writing was on the wall long before the wheels came off. Administration was a bitter pill and must have been worse for the poor buggers who ended up out of work through it, but some of the crap that has come from former players who lost out on substantial contracts that their talents scarcely deserved is also just nonsense. He did not walk away and stayed to get the club back on it's feet. Having seen what has gone on at other clubs we were lucky to have him around. The stuff with Brown the honourable gentleman was epic. Got it right up the old bastard.

The African
My favourite Boyle moment was when he got us the money we were due from those wanks, Cardiff Whenever I see their results, I hope Cardiff get stuffed. Ironic that an ex Well legend won them their only meaningful bit of silver wear, but fuck them!John Boyle on "Off the Ball" was always good value. Brazilian
for balance: irreparable damage to core fan base over many years sold out peoples season tickets from under their arse, sold out home stands to vile scum Administration from his reckless spend invited the sellik to have party at Fir Park strangled recovery with loan payments and did he really walk away from payment....? his empire seems to have one success
milo
I remember when he gave the 'Well fans the fingers when we were protesting at the end of the Malpas season. And then came out and denied he had done such a thing!
Mortonhallwell
John Boyle spent approx £8m of his own money on our club. Okay, he made some mistakes, but anyone who spends that level of cash on MFC is all right with me.
Lobey_Dosser
Glad to have him away from the club to be honest. I was a bit taken aback by the enforced show of appreciation yesterday.

Waldo
John Boyle spent approx £8m of his own money on our club. Okay, he made some mistakes, but anyone who spends that level of cash on MFC is all right with me. Yeah but MFC loss was set against profits from his other companies. He didn't end up with £8 million less cash. And some of that 'spend' was loans. And for that money, he could've built us a stadium - £1 million spent on John Spencer ffs! Ah.... ifs, buts and only's....
stv
Boyle put his money where his heart was into the club. He is a genuine supporter who always tried to and done what was right for us . Easy to bemoan some of his actions but he invested a lot of money and learned lessons as well Some of his critics have never even invested in the Well Society . Oh and he could take a laugh at himself and gave it to old mother Broon ,,,,,,priceless. Glad to see him on the park yesterday for his last bow Well done John and thanks .
Well Up For It!
He was undoubtedly badly advised by people who he trusted; that wee c*** Nevin immediately springs to mind. Never understood some of the hatred for Nevin from our fans. He begged Boyle to delay administration until end of season. He resigned in protest of Boyles actions. Make no mistake, it was his Boyles lofty ambition that led to administration. That said, still very grateful to him for all his efforts with the club over the years. Goggles & Flippers
We'll never know which direction the club would have went if Boyle hadn't came in. In his tenure we've had the lions share of our Euro outings, finished best of the rest quite a few times and never dropped out the top league. Yes he got caught up in the moment but so did a lot of clubs.
steelboy
That said, still very grateful to him for all his efforts with the club over the years. Not as grateful as Ged Brannan, Tony Thomas, Greg Strong, John Spencer and Andy Goram.

He resigned in protest of Boyles actions. Make no mistake, it was his Boyles lofty ambition that led to administration. That said, still very grateful to him for all his efforts with the club over the years. No Nevin was complicit in the club going into administration, he was in charge of a football dealings, he then walked away instead of admitting his part in the mess. Boyle made a mess of a lot of things but Nevin was advising him and spending Boyle's millions on players that weren't worth it. Boyle lost money. Nevin made a fortune out of Motherwell.
