Lobey_Dosser
Didn't see the Clarky deal coming. Hopefully he'll do a job for us, primarily as backup, with minimum financial outlay. At least McManus will have no reason to go in the huff for the first 3 months of the season.
underboyleheating
It’s a pity he wasn’t posing in the new kit.
Well Up For It!
Just as a side note, you think he will wear no.10? He was last to wear it and by all accounts it was retired but for him being related to Phil EDIT: See he got No.
MelvinBragg
I suspect Clarkson is the replacement for Sutton, an option off the bench. Given he's been given the number 19 jersey, it would suggest the club have someone else in mind for the number 9 shirt...
Burn_Broomfield
Number 19 for Clarkson, I reckon we'll see another 2 forwards come in, McDonald being one of them.

Would think our first choice striker will be an up and coming young fella with his best days ahead of him that we can sell on, rather than someone starting on the downside of his career with all due respect to Clarkson
weeyin
Clarkson is an interesting one. Started last season on fire then only scored one goal in 2015. He should get plenty of chances, so hopefully he brings his shooting boots.
Lobey_Dosser
I was thinking Jordan White may have been our potential off the bench striker but the local paper possibly did just pluck his name from off here.
superward
Agreed, think Clarkson will be a back up/different option off the bench - evidenced by being given No.19.
Big Wispy Flossy
Agreed, think Clarkson will be a back up/different option off the bench - evidenced by being given No.19. Numbers mean nothing. Did clarkson not wear 19 when he first broke in to first team?
siebsbarmyarmy
Happy enough with this. As a squad player yes, really good professional and thoroughly decent fella. Loved him first time around. When we played them this year he looked decent taking the ball into feet and linking up the play. Suits the Barraclough style. Don't think he's our main striker mind you but not going to knock the signing at all. Welcome back Clarky lad.
Yassin
Bit OT but was O'Donnell known as Uncle Phil before Clarkson came along?
steelman1991
Glad to see our 'scouting system' has unearthed a hidden gem - from the "can I join in with your pre-season training and hopefully get a deal" set-up. Totally underwhelmed by that one, not even as a back-up. Though happy to be proved wrong.
steelman1991
Bit OT but was O'Donnell known as Uncle Phil before Clarkson came along? Might even have been the other way round - wasn't known as Uncle Phil, until PO'D re-joined (Clarkson already being here).

Kmcalpin
Dunno how I feel about this to be honest...Excellent player in the past. He done well when he started for Dundee then just disappeared. Got released at the end of season. I hope he is the back up striker that gives us options.and we are still looking at other strikers. My thoughts too. Just not sure how this will go. In his previous spell with us he scored goals and always chasing down and harrying defenders. Is that still his game?
weeyin
Might even have been the other way round - wasn't known as Uncle Phil, until PO'D re-joined (Clarkson already being here). Aye, Clarkson was playing at Fir Park when O'Donnell returned in 2004 and that's when he picked up the "Uncle" tag.
Mic2904
Cant believe we are falling back and spending money on someone injury prone, no tekkies, no speed and no proven goal record! What a waste of money... Underwhelmed is an understatement. I thought we had the best scouting team in the UK....?
johnstone
I think A Clarky, Skippy, Marvin and Ainsworth forward line would be dynamite. Most of the Spl would shite it up against that lot!

Orinoco
Welcome back Davey. Dont think you can underestimate the importance of having solid pro's especially those that know what the club is about in the squad. I am sure he will be motivated to make the most of this return and help the younger players progress. Certainly interesting to see who else we sign in the next week or so. Onwards and upwards.
Pepper
If this is any reflection of the standard of player we can expect to see arrive this summer then it's going to be another long season. And where exactly does Clarkson fit into this new philosophy we've heard so much about? A rank rotten signing, even as a squad player.
Casagolda
Just going by squad numbers we still have at least 7 players to sign with numbers 1, 4, 5, 9, 16, 17, 20 vacant.

Orinoco
just another typical day on here. We sign someone and write said player off before he's even had a chance to kick a ball in anger. Lets just trust the managers judgement and see who else we sign please for once!
