Happy Dosser
Does anyone have any info about the new jersey? Seems we may be returning to the claret sash.
ankles
heard that every strip sold must have this on the back ... SIX 1
The African
As someone who fondly remembers the team from the mid seventies, I think a sash style strip would be great. Got to get the colours right though, as it could look drab if the amber is too dark. I would also enjoy a changed strip with a white shirt featuring claret and amber bands. Hopefully the need for a sponsors logo will not spoil the aesthetic of it all.
Happy Dosser
Hoping for a hoop myself but think it unlikely. The club seem reluctant to wear the traditional strip. I suppose the best we can hope for is nothing too garish, like the harlequin thing in '96. That was a disaster, designed by an interior decorator on speed. steelman1991
Happy Dosser - IIRC it had more to do with the manufacturing process, rather than the club's reluctance to produce a 'traditional' strip. Like others I'm usually more than happy that at least our home and away efforts are 'Claret & Amber' and kept well away from the St Mirren strip designers. Pettywulliegrew-2
Heard a rumour that the delay in launching the new kit is a sponsorship issue...... first stumbling block was were we going to stay up......then Cash converters looking to half/reduce the money..... and we are possibly looking else where. The Macron kit was launched at the beginning of May last year....and one thing for sure Vigurs wont be modelling next seasons home kit !IMHO opinion its out of order that we are getting 2 new kits after one season.......they should last at least 2 seasons, with possibly a third kit being launched after a year.I'm sure the club shop is run independently (Provan Sports) and they pay MFC a retainer fee for the privilege of supplying both the club and the fans with kit/training wear etc etc .....(if I'm wrong I'm sure somebody at possibly Well society will correct me) and they make the money on kits not the clubAs always I'm hoping for the traditional hoop on the home kit and white shorts, but would not be to upset if we went with the sash as we did in the mid 70's pre the Admiral kitsJust noticed Sevco have launched a red away kit with a black sash which is broken by the sponsors logo then a darker shade of red(see Football strip thread on General Football forum)
NottsMFC
Wouldn't mind being able to pick 1 up before I go on holiday (if it's decent enough!) but it's 2 weeks on Tuesday so not looking likely.

He said club makes the money , can you no remember that ?
underboyleheating
I always prefer our home top to have a claret hoop/band, however, I would accept a one off claret sash as long as we move back to the hoop the following season. I can’t remember who said it, however, an ex international player/manger once said, “good teams do not wear bad kits”. If the jester kit has taught us anything, kit design always looks better with a traditional, simple and classy approach.

Was not the Q & A with Les.....but know when trying to get a signed home shirt for a charity auction a couple of years ago from the club office was told go and buy the shirt from the club shop and hand it in as they would have to do the same and it would be quicker for me to get the shirt !!!!......maybe things have changed under he new owner.....I stand corrected
Lobey_Dosser
Assumed we are going with the sash since the marketing material for STs was released. Cash Converters have been a pretty good sponsor in terms of how much interest they've taken in the club and fans. However, I'd expect the owner to look for sponsorship that reflects our community focus.

Maybe even J Chandler or Imperial Tobacco...
ohwulliewullie
On the Macron website (https://custom.macron.com/Pages/Sport.aspx) you can fiddle round with the templates and colours. For some reason I couldn't post an image, but you can come up with some pretty good claret and amber strips with a sash.
Happy Dosser
Most of you on here probably know this site. It's interesting seeing how strips have evolved. Some real turkeys too, of course. http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Scotland_Index.htm
bobbybingo
Sevco wearing a black sash? How apt, considering their hammering last week.
Frazzie
A sash would be welcome, but always tend to think these kits suffer more than most with the addition of a sponsor. That's why FPC have Amber with a claret sash with the sponsors r on the back.

EightSixteen
Not overly fussed if we release new strips every season, no one has to buy them. I reckon this is going to be the shape of things to come under Les' regime. You're absolutely right that no one has to buy them but the club will be banking on the fact a lot of people will. Good business decision for the club, shit news for parents.
The African
The point about parents is pretty valid. Times are difficult enough without the lure of a new kit every season and prices are not cheap, for what is essentially a t shirt. I also wonder if a club of our size really does make a lot of money from this sort of merchandising. A new kit every second or third season should be enough, if the deals with sponsors and kit manufacturers can be agreed in those terms. Possibly change the away kit and home kit in alternate seasons? Also, have a look at our traditional style of design and stick with it. Get the colours right and the size of the band right and our iconic shirt doesn't need too much done to it, year in, year out.
