twistandshout1983
Faddy against Livingston in the 6-2 game also remember his performance in the 2-1 game against Celtic when Fagan scored.
ropy
Goalkeepers will surely feature? i'd offer some suggestions to match names like Maxwell,Dijstra, Marshall, Ruddy and Randolph, but my memory needs a jolt when it comes to matches in the past..... Did Doobydoo not have a good game against Rangers?

mfc
ross mccormack was unplayable the night we destroyed hibs at easter road in the cup, though to be fair the whole team were outstanding that night.
BigWeegieDosser
1980 v Clydebank Met John Gahagans Dad on the train to FP. He was looking forward to watching his son play against his former club, who he informed me had f*cked him about no end in his time there. The game starts and I can see his old Dad in the main stand from my usual spot in the East stand We won 3-2 . His boy scoring the winner, I swear the old boy almost hit the roof of the stand celebrating. Then met an ecstatic man on the train the way home. So happy he had tears in his eyes 35 years ago and I can still picture it. I'm sure I could list dozens of others but that one just sticks in my mind
something else
The Cooper performance against Aberdeen was indeed a memorable one. Henrik ojamma against Aberdeen a couple of years ago also sticks out. One that most folk probably won't remember though was a Scottish cup game at love street in the late 90's. We went down to 9 men while leading 2-1 . Think it was Don Goodman and Greg strong who were sent off. Ged brannan ended up playing at centre half and turned in one of the best performances I have ever seen.
weeyin
And Willie P was linked to St Pauli in Germany when he was at his most prolific ! Wasn't just linked - he almost signed for them In his scoring heyday, however, Pettigrew's lippy style made him enemies. One of those proved to be Ally MacLeod, whose mental scarring at the 1978 World Cup with Scotland required him to seek solace six months later in that well-known sanatorium: the Motherwell manager's office. By then, Pettigrew had been capped and was on - relatively speaking - a fat salary of nearly £200-a-week at Fir Park. MacLeod wanted him out, and Pettigrew almost moved to St Pauli in Germany the previous season. Amazingly, he also played through some of his prime years with a terrible injury. "I ruptured a muscle in my left leg. This was in that era when they said 'it's all in yer mind' or 'stamp it off'. On a Saturday, unless your leg was in two, you were expected to play. I went to see a specialist and even he said, 'ach, you'll be fine, just don't think about it on the park.' Well, after games my leg blew up to twice its normal size. I said to Willie [McLean], 'look at this, boss, I'm telling you, my leg's not right!' I was in agony after matches. "I'd nearly signed for St Pauli the previous season [in 1977]. I flew over there with Wee Willie [McLean] and Bill Dickie. We met their officials, and they wanted me. Motherwell were looking at the money they were going to get for me and were pretty keen. I said to Bill, 'the club will get £365,000 out of this sale . . . and what will I get?' He said to me, 'what d'you mean? You'll get nothing.' I said, 'okay, let's all fly home . . . I'm not into this.' That was at the time when I had my injury, and I knew I'd fail a 'physical'. But Willie was desperate to get his hands on the money. GazzyB
Haven't been to as many Motherwell games as most on here but Graeme Smith vs Nancy in France was heroic. Penalty save was the icing on the cake!
Yabba's Turd
A bit of topic, but I was flicking through yon "Well Again" book the other night. I didn't know this, but we only won 1 game in 19 at one point during the season we won the cup and our form in the league only really picked up when we went on our cup run. 1 win in 19?!?!?! Bloody hell!!!! Very few (if any) managers would survive a run like that these days! And probably rightly so!! We also only won 3 of the 7 cup games inside 90 minutes
daver
The media went crazy about Faddy's performance against Celtic mainly because they hadn't seen him play before. The performance that stood out for me was the Dundee game at Fir Park shortly after he had broken into the team. He was absolutely unplayable and some of his his flicks and tricks were incredible.
well-army
Kilmarnock Away just after we went into Admin. Faddy / Pearson ran the show that day. Cooper against United at FP. (Can't remember the year or score) Malpas must have had nightmares for weeks after that game. Also Russell against rangers when we beat them 3 - 0 ( I think it Last game of season)

Ah mind that gemme as was in the Main Stand which was unusual for me. Was covered by Sportscene (remember the days 1 game on Sportscene and 1 on Scotsport?) think we won 3-2, Cooper slipped a great ball through to the on-rushing Arnott who smashed the ball home. Same game I think Cooper won a penalty as he tried to skim past 2 Utd defenders then gave a fist-pumping YESSSS to the Well fans just yards away on the terracing. kmmfc
Couple of others to add to the list: David Ferrere in his first game Lasley against Panathinaikos at home where I thought he was immense.
Desp
Surprised no one has mentioned Gordon Marshall's performance on Skippy Sunday. We really should have been about 5 or 6 down by the time McDonald scored. He gets a bit of stick for his performance in the League Cup Final, but he was incredible that day. AlmostFrazzled
Through different positions: Goalkeeper: Honourable mention to Doobydoo for his performance against rangers. Defender: Hutchinson against Aberdeen in his last game. He was an absolute goliath. Even when we switched to an experimental 2-at-the-back formation. Midfielder: Bob Malcolm at Parkhead. Actually Lionel Ainsworth against against St Johnstone sticks in the memory as a recent one. Everytime he got the ball he was drifting past 2-3 men. Was unlucky to only get one goal. Striker: Faddy against Dundee. An absolutely ridiculous performance. Some of the dribbling on display was ridiculous.
trainbus
Never mind the players! I mind sitting in the east for a midweek game years ago when the ref got injured, tannoy announcement goes out to the crowd asking for any SFA registered official to make themselves known. Guy appears after a bit from the east and is sent to run the line in front of the east, north end of half way. 5-10 min later we score and there goes the linesman sprinting to half way giving it large with a fist pump and a massive smile on his coupon. Call it an individual performance that I liked at Fir Park.
Andy H
The legend that is Stevie Kirk who played 80 (?) minutes in goal v Hearts and saved a penalty!. That was in the days when we didn't have keepers on the bench Found the footage on youtube. Jesus it was 1988, I feel old!

steelman1991
Not in a 'well shirt - but memorable none the less - Andy Lynch (Celtic) - 2 OG's in a 3 goal (I think) romp.
