Bop
This is only very tenuously related to Motherwell Football Club so apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place but I thought it might get a bit more exposure in here rather than in Compost Corner. Recently a few of us who sit up in the end section decided to set up a small group called “#streetscran” to try and do as much as we can to provide basic necessities such as food, water or clothing to the most vulnerable in our society. It was originally just a few of us making up packed lunch boxes to hand out to the homeless on the way to or from work but we thought we might get a bit more done if we put our heads together and tried to make things a wee bit more formal which is what led us to “#streetscran”. The facebook page we've set up can be viewed here for anyone who'd like to have a bit more of a read about what we hope to do. "Liking and Sharing" is encouraged to try and increase our reach as far as possible: https://www.facebook.com/Street-Scran-908172702570969/?fref=ts For our first initiative we've teamed up with the Glasgow based “Destiny Angels” who provide invaluable services to those facing homelessness and poverty in and around the town. I'm going to just link their website at the end of the post because they offer such a vast array of services that i'd be here all night if I were to list them all. We're hoping to get as many people as possible to fill a rucksack with clothes, toiletries and non-perishable food items which can then be organised and distributed by the “Destiny Angels” street team to the homeless and those in need of food. Motherwell FC have kindly offered to allow us to use Fir Park (outside the main stand) as a collection point this Friday coming between 7-8PM if anyone from here would like to chuck a few items in. If you don't have a rucksack spare but do have some old clothes (warmer the better!) or non-perisable food items you'd like to contribute then this is just as good. We'll be there with transport to take the donations straight through to the Destiny Angels who will then be on the streets ASAP to distribute so the impact felt will be instantaneous. For anyone who can't make this Friday we're hoping to do the same the following week to maximise the amount of items we're able to gather. The players themselves have also offered to get some items together for which we're really grateful. We've also had some contact from those who are a bit further afield who would like to contribute but won't be able to make it to Motherwell and for that reason we've also set up a just giving page for cash donations which is also linked at the bottom of this page. Apologies again if this is in the wrong place and a massive thanks to those who have either already donated or plan to do so, we think its a really worthwhile cause and hope to get as much as we can for them. If this initiative goes well it will hopefully be the first of many. PS. For anyone in Glasgow that has anything to donate i'm collecting items in my flat – just fire me a PM to arrange. #streetscran #fillarucksack LINKS: #streetscran facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Street-Scran-908172702570969/ Destiny Foundation: http://www.destinyfoundations.org/angels/ Just Giving page: https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/streetscran

Bop
Just a quick bump that we'll be outside the main stand tomorrow night at 7PM to collect donations before transporting them to the Destiny Angels. Thanks again for those who have got in touch via PM/Facebook to support the drive.

Bop
Huge thank you for the donation Brazilian and to all of those who made it along to FP tonight to drop a few bags off. We ended up with much more than we expected and a huge chunk of it is already out on the street being handed out as we speak. This drive is running for another few weeks so i'll update the thread as it continues in case anyone else would like to get involved. Thanks again.
