steelboy
So what your saying is the type of contract football uses is different from that used in the employment of other workers. So "employment of footballers is unlike normal employment." Make your mind up Steelboy! If transfer fees were only between the clubs and nothing to do with the players, then why do they get signing on fees written into their contracts! There are loads of different types of employment so there is no normal template. There are other types of jobs where people work on fixed term contracts and can't leave to join another company in the same industry straight away. It looks like players get a good deal with guaranteed contracts but if players could give notice or demand new terms at any point clubs would be up shit creek. Players get signing on fees because it's difficult to find adequate players so they can make demands. As Mcguru says bankers as an example might receive a golden hello.
