underboyleheating
Great footage of Motherwell’s Scottish Cup tie against Ayr United which was played at Celtic Park, February 1921. And Motherwell v Patrick Thistle.

mio
Jesus.. that was a tough crowd to play in front of!! The fir park crowd looked like they'd been given a day out of the asylum. Not even a round of applause when the teams came out...............not seen that since Billy Davies was in charge!!

dennyc
Just surprised Chic Young has not been on moaning about the state of the Fir Park pitch against Thistle. Wonder what the crowd figure really was as it looked massive by todays attendances.
ONeils40yarder
The population of Motherwell in those days was about 5000, where the fuck did the support come from?

underboyleheating
Also dem hats Those bunnets! Size of soup plates..... Bunnet shops where making a fortune, oddly you rarely see anyone wearing them these days. The crowds were huge in comparison to today’s games, however, you need to remember that there was nothing much else to do with your spare time. True, working in the mornings, pubs shut in the afternoon, no tv, cars or out of town shopping centres to be dragged along to, not having to spend "quality" time with your wife and family and no money to spend on anything - cheap football was all there was. steelboy
The population of Motherwell in those days was about 5000, where the fuck did the support come from? Just checked this... the combined population of Motherwell and Wishaw in 1921 was 69,000 (5% of the total people in Scotland). No stats available for Bellshill.
