Ya Bezzer!
It's the close season and there's not much going on so I'll post this. Â I was reading the Infowire section over at Pie and Bovril and one of the threads piqued my interest - Longest since last meeting between two Scottish clubs. Â So I decided to research it. If you exclude the 'new' league entrants it's 44 years since we last played Montrose on the 5th February 1972, anyone remember that one!? Â If you include the new league entrants it's pretty extraordinary - we played Elgin City in the Scottish Cup in 1909 and we've not met since, a mere 107 years. And we have never played Annan Athletic or Edinburgh City in a competitive match. Maybe next season we'll get a cup draw... Â The full list is below. BigWeegieDosser
Who on earth has the time to do this? The close season does scary things to people, doesn't it. Especially the two weeks at the start when they're all off to Benidorm for their hols and there's no news
siebsbarmyarmy
Nearly 10 years since we played Airdrie. Â Too long, need to put them back in their place. Here's hoping for a Derby cup draw. (Obv both teams need to stay in the cups longer for the chance difficult thing to ask)....
sinjy
I have a vague memory of a game at Montrose in the League Cup in the late 60s. In the days of only one substitute we named goalie Peter McCloy as sub. During the game he came on and Keith McCrae who started in goals went outfield and scored a goal. McCrae played quite a few games outfield during his time at Fir Park. Can anyone else remember this game or I am I mistaken.

Seems that Kirky Lawson and Jim McCabe scored the goals.

Spiderpig
you have Rangers on the list surely that should be 'The Rangers' for 31/5/15 and then we should have another entry for Rangers.

Andy_P
Not competitively of course but I've seen us play Elgin in a friendly at Borough Briggs in a pre-season. Would have been 1992 I think, back in the days the first team still toured the HIghlands. We played Huntly on the same weekend. Alan Sneddon played in both as a trialist and subsequently won a deal (!). Â I've stopped off at Annan twice on the way to friendlies at Carlisle, the first being an absolutely sensational day out with the folk at Annan being truly magnificent hosts - free pies, t-shirts given away to the weans, you want to have a kickabout on the park guys, there's a baw.... Â The 20's or whatever the guise was then did play them in a pre-season a few years ago. I can't remember when exactly, I'd estimate around 2005 or 2006. Ya Bezzer!
Who on earth has the time to do this? Â I have my own records back to 2003 and then there is the internet. Took about 15 minutes max. Â Wait till you see my Excel sheets for Season 2015/16 though - you can copy and paste your comment with some justification then!

Ya Bezzer!
You probably have used it but Statto.com is awesome if you havent. Â I tend to use Transfermarkt for current player details, BBC for match reports and line ups and Soccerbase for past results. I think I have Statto.com bookmarked on my old computer but it's mainly the three mentioned that I use. Anything needs checked or confirmed I go to the club websites. swami
Is it really 16 years since we played Ayr? I'm sure we get them in the Cup every 2 or 3 years.
daver
That was a sore one - pretty much ended Greg Denham's chances with us.

We played Ayr Utd quite a few times around the same time but not since then. Â The Alloa Athletic match when we lost on penalties and Brian Martin skyed one - 20 years ago!
