Unless we get rid of a forward or two I doubt he'll be back in January, as it's a season long loan I think? Better to have him playing regularly for Morton than warming our bench and getting the odd cameo, imho.
Happy Dosser
Attended an event at Motherwell library tonight with Pat Nevin talking about his time at MFC and other clubs. His new book was for sale also. I had an older friend, sadly no longer with us, who was very critical of PN during his time at the club so it was interesting to hear the latter's version of things. Whom to believe, eh?

It was mainly an anecdotal night to showcase the book, as you would expect, so I wasn't expecting any great insights. I actually only went because a friend asked me to come along and we were going to the pub afterwards 🤣. He seemed ok on the surface but it's hard to tell much about a person in an hour of chat about things you didn't witness yourself. The one story I did find surprising was that the salary John Boyle offered him as CE (or whatever his title was) was too much and he would only take half the amount offered because money wasn't very important to him and JB was always too generous when splashing the cash. Since I had already heard negative views of his time at FP, it was frankly difficult for me to come to a conclusion. In my experience , you only really get to know someone by working with them (or marrying them 😈) that's when you discover their true nature, for better or worse. David
I've always blamed Boyle more than Nevin for that whole period of time. He was the guy who hired someone who clearly wasn't qualified for that job.

He's said a few times that he had to talk Boyle down from splashing mental money at some players.

On the plus side, we'd likely never have moved to the fan owned model if it wasn't for that. He also did the right thing when it came to being repaid monies owed to him that otherwise could have made our financial situation even more dire. I'd strongly disagree with this. I went to a similar event here on Guernsey, listened to an hour of anecdotes and had a good chat with him afterwards as the token Motherwell supporter. I also bought his book, which he very kindly signed for me. Having read it, I really can't find any fault in him. The blame seems to lie with Boyle himself as a well-intentioned but fairly clueless owner and his holding company Hamilton.

The blame seems to lie with Boyle himself as a well-intentioned but fairly clueless owner and his holding company Hamilton. I bought his books too which annoyed me slightly as I was putting more money in his pockets. I did however find them interesting. Boyle as discussed was obviously the main culprit but Nevin tried to deflect absolutely everything on him which I disagreed with. He was responsible for some of the mercenaries we employed and also responsible for their pay. An example being Tony Thomas the crock from Tranmere who played a few games for us and got £4K a week over a 3yr period. i think Nevin is a smart guy and can pull the wool over many peoples eyes as folk think he’s honest. I don’t. Even his best mate McLair has made a few comments about Nevin spinning the truth. I thought Mclair was quite funny actually when he was talking about this and how Nevin went on and on about attending university when he was actually at a college. anyway, it’s just my view, don’t trust the bloke, never forgave him for him taking a Chanel 5 job to commentate on an English game the same night we played Chievo to help with funds following our administration. Not something I’d have expected from our CEO as he still was at that time. Charlatan.
twistandshout1983
I bought Pat’s book and I thought it was an excellent read . Each to their own opinion of course . As much as John Boyle had the best of intentions he had to be talked out of some crazy ideas on plenty of occasions Some things in it I would never have thought at the time were going on behind the scenes at Fir Park , new issues popping up on a regular almost daily basis . Billy Davies also sounded like one difficult character to work with , would have left sooner if it wasn’t for Nevin backing him as plenty of others at the club had seemingly had enough

0Neils40yarder
Can't be many cup winning captains (particularly from a Club that doesn't win much) who is so roundly loathed by the vast majority of the support

The African
I think we need to take a step back from the whole Tom Boyd situation. It is too easy to react to his attitude towards our club. I will certainly put my hand up and admit that I have been guilty of it in the past. The truth is that he obviously has no regard for Motherwell FC, the clubs' achievements and indeed his not insignificant input into some of those achievements. That is his choice and right as an individual. I personally think it shows a certain lack of class, perhaps even bordering on the ignorant, but that is just my opinion. Getting riled up about it seems to me to be a waste of time. It fosters a sense of negativity around events at the club that deserve to be remembered in a much better light and, given the attitude of the man, you can bet that he doesn't care a jot what any of us think anyway. Personally, I am for moving on from this little saga and concentrating on more positive and deserving individuals.
joewarkfanclub
I dont actually think Tom Boyd does have no regard for Motherwell, or winning the cup with us. Ive heard him interviewed before and he does state it was some achievement. But he is a Celtic fan and he puts his achievments with them above ours and has definitely paid no regard to us when talking openly about big games between them and us since that time. It has certainly done him no favours with our support and rightly so. He should be regarded as one of the greatest Motherwell captains ever. The fact that he isnt speaks volumes. Maybe he doesnt care about his legacy at our club. Its a shame, but its his problem.
Stuwell2
I’ve never met the guy and I understand folks view from interviews he’s done but about 15 years ago my brother had a hospitality table at Parkhead and took a few of our mates and my dad. TB came over to the table and sat with them for more than 15 minutes talking about his time at Motherwell and talking to my dad about ex players who were about the club doing hospitality when he was there which made my dads day. My brother says he was a good guy who showed real affection for Motherwell and what we did for his career. He also says they were all having a good laugh until a Celtic employee came over and told TB that there were plenty of tables of Celtic supporters wanting to talk with him and as he got up he said awe well back to work then, it was a pleasure talking to you guys. So for that I give him a lot of leeway.
Spiderpig
He's an obnoxious tosser, who thought his career only started when he signed for Celtic, with no regard to what went before, or respect for the club where he got his start as a pro. He only scored 2 goals in 304 appearances for Celtic, 6 for Motherwell in 252 so the best stats of his career were at Fir Park but as far as he's concerned he's a Celtic legend, as I said a tosser.
