I think that we normally get it right in that respect but I would like to mention Nicky Cadden as one that got away.

My mate who knew them as players was shocked at us only keeping Chris as he believed Nicky was as good if not better but it has taken Nicky longer to get to where he is now.
Tough decisions for the coaching staff when budgets are tight and I sometimes wonder who they put before him on their list.

Butland injured so baptism of fire for Kelly tomorrow . Certainly don't wish him any bad will. He was not great last season but was a good servant to us

He played last week against Dundee

Aye but Butland got to touch the ball. Kelly as usual nowhere to be seen at a cross ball. How he makes a living as a goalkeeper is a mystery.

I think there's a bit of revisionism going on because during his first loan spell, and during his early performances after we signed him, he was an excellent performer (and even won the players' Player of the Year).

He was certainly poor when everyone else in the team was poor too, but his overall contribution to the team during his spell was a net positive.

I was never a fan of having him as a captain, and I always felt his form dipped after that.

I've seen plenty of good keepers over the years that don't do crosses - it wasn't a problem for them, because they had central defenders that took care of them.

Jim Leighton made a career out of never leaving his 6 yard box, but had guys like Big Eck to mop up.

Kelly became a bombscare and cost us a lot of goals, absolutely no denying that especially after he became captain. As been said previously  he was very good on loan to us and initially after permanently signing but he just got worse and worse , every other team and even his own defenders knew he couldn't be relied on at cross balls.

That being said the Ox seems to be heading in the same direction. Hopefully he can recapture his prowess In the air he's a lot bigger and has more presence than LK ever had.

Ox was decent today, making at least one goal-stopping save. His distribution and urgency were, however, honking.

Mika Biereth has just been sold to AS Monaco for a reported fee of around £10.8million plus add-ons. His stats are brilliant, was a joy to watch when we had him..!

It's just a shame that Charles "not that kind of player" Dunne reduced the number of games we got to see him play.

Doesn’t look like Theo is setting the Heather on fire at Auxerre.  From what I can tell 1 goal in 16 games??

Thats about what he had scored this time last year.

He should do double digits in the second half of the season! 😆

Bailey Rice got 30 mins for the rangers this afternoon. His only notable contribution to the game was to have the ball blootered off his face. What a waste.

Yes, I was talking to a Rangers fan of my acquaintance about Lennon Miller and what would be  his best move   when he leaves Motherwell  and he contrasted LM's  development via his number of games with us with Bailey, who was supposed to be as promising but has just warmed the bench for a couple of years and whose career has stagnated.

I think Lennon's best move may be to the continent, like Lewis Ferguson.
