How do we know that Liam Kelly has signed on until after the Euros? I've seen references to this but can't find the official source. How much is it worth? Presumably we'll split any monies received with Kelly himself.

There's an post on Facebook that confirms he has. No idea how much we get or how it'll be split.

Edit: it's on the official site too

It's in the link on the story on Facebook and twitter. It doesn't say.

Confirmed on BBC that Kelly signed a short contract extension so we could get a bonus.   What a great gesture and speaks volumes for him.

Guaranteed if he is at Fir Park next season for opposition there will still be folk booing him seeing the way we seem to treat ex motherwell player's

That money he has earned us is massive so he deserves a lot of praise

Any half decent coach would never have selected a 41 Yr old keeper irrespective of how he was at his prime who's only played 7 games in over 2 years for a major tournament in the 1st place, Clarke is feckin hopeless.

You are 100% entitled to your opinion on Craig Gordon. But to call Clarke hopeless when he has got us to 2 back to back Euros and a World Cup play off in 3 attempts is way off the mark.

Nope, that money will all go to the club.

Not a big issue in the grand scheme of things, but do you know this for a fact? In order to access those monies of course, we had to extend his contract, thereby forking out another £15-20K in employment costs. Still well worth it though.

I thought it was good management to be honest. Bringing in one of our best 'keepers in recent times to put pressure on the other three to train hard and perform well.

Sentimental pish, Clarke was supposed to be preparing a squad for a major tournament, not giving game time to a player who is done and did not deserve it just because " he is a good guy and was a great player".

If he was to inspire the other 3 then bring him in as a a goal keeping coach, adviser or whatever but not as a potential starter.

As remote as the chances are of Scotland making it through the group stages, if they do, then I see the Record estimating a payout of around 140k would be coming to the club. Looking at previous payments from the Euros, that seems a reasonable estimate.

I don't have the documentation to hand, but I'm sure that I read somewhere that a club using access to international payments to "sweeten deals" for said player is illegal under UEFA rules? I'm not sure of the legal chit chat around it, but i doubt we'd be willing to cause that kind of scrutiny and potential issues for the sums mentioned.

And VAR being used properly,  the offside goal would have taken 5 mins up here

Technically it was properly, but I'd still suggest that having your shoulder ahead of a defender's foot does not make you offside. That's not why that particular law was created and needs to be updated if we are going to squabble over millimetres.

Personally, I'd open the discussion with the forward needing their entire body to be ahead of the defender before they were offside.

It's still a complete shambles ruining the game, Ronaldo's shoulder was millimeters in front of the defender, that's not offside ffs, and also not a clear and obvious error.

They are now actively looking for excuses not to award a goal, it's a shambles and needs binned.

True on the "clear and obvious". But it doesn't matter whether you measure it with computers or a bit of wet string, there will always be a line behind which you're offside, and it will always be possible to be a few millimetres the wrong side of it.

That's the problem though, drawing lines, is the attacker's shoulder or big toe offside, going back 5 or 6 passes in case there was an issue it's nonsense.

We need to get back to basics ie is there daylight between the attacker and defender that's proper offside. Then we can leave it to the linesman to decide and berate them instead.

Sometimes technology does not improve things and VAR is an example of that, it's ruining the game.

It's never been that but even if it was there is still going to be the shoulder or big toe offside, just starting at a different datum point.

But I agree with going back a few moves is wrong, if the referee played on then that should be it.

Similar looking at possible offenses from corners when there is probably 4 or 5 all happening, some by attackers and some by defenders.

That's being discussed, apparently. Arsene Wenger proposed it.
