weeyin
Not that is makes Scottish refs better, but I have never seen a Scottish as bad as the one in the Man Utd v Bournemouth game today. Not realising he'd booked a player twice was the smallest of all the mistakes he's made.
Kmcalpin
Excerpt from the Rangers Hamilton game...player involved was Garner (BBC report) "Winding up to lash at the ball, he carried on even when it was out of reach and his kick and momentum carried instead into Imrie, who was felled. It was a moment of rashness and over-aggression that could have had the striker dismissed. Beaton, instead, opted for a yellow card." The very issue we have been discussing on here. steelboy
Even Walter Smith agreed it should have been two reds. Goalie picked the ball up a few feet outside his box and then took it back in with accies player bearing down on him. The Garner one was a red. With the goalie at normal speed it's impossible for the ref or the assistant to be sure when he actually makes contact with the ball. Haggischomper
Safe to say he deserved a red,but Imrie deserved the tackle.

daver
It's the grin on Garner's face after it that makes me laugh.

GrahamH
The Garner one was a red. With the goalie at normal speed it's impossible for the ref or the assistant to be sure when he actually makes contact with the ball. Impossible? It's a fairly straightforward decision for someone standing in line with the incident when that's the only thing they have to look at. It's a far easier incident to spot than a tight offside call. daver
Depends what side the linesman is on. I believe he was on that side so should have seen it clearly.
GrahamH
Depends what side the linesman is on. I believe he was on that side so should have seen it clearly.According to the commentary he was on that side and right in line with it.The Garner decision is blatant cheating. There's no way anybody can see that and say it's anything other than a straight red.
wellowell
Agree and can't believe some papers blaming linesman Beaton was 5 yards away looking right at it same as our goal v Dundee he was about 18 yards away in middle of goal linesman was behind play so Beaton actually was in great position to see it was well in but always linesman,s fault when he gives these decisions . superward
Both are at fault. Even behind play the assistant should be seeing it.
ropy
It was similar to the 'tackle' that the Ayr player was sent off for.
Kmcalpin
STV still going on about Ryan Bowmans tackle at Parkhead. Time they let it drop.
wellowell
Bowman tackle nowhere near as bad as more recent tackles so no idea why still going on about it. Trust me if was other way round and Imrie had Kung fued Garner would be front page for a week but papers and media in general don't like upsetting bigot brothers so swept under carpet same as Jomn Beatons performance will be by the SFA
weeyin
They're going on about it because we were pretty vocal in the media about inconsistent refereeing, how we felt hard done by, and requesting a visit to explain the rules. So any time we get away with one, it will be highlighted. I'm not saying we were wrong to raise the issue, just that it's the inevitable consequence. capt_oats
Quite surprised more hasn't been made of this one from Kouassi in the media tbh. Can't think why. https://twitter.com/talkingbaws/status/838407329464922112

They are going on about it because it was against one of the ugly sisters, the media are obsessed with pandering to them. If Bowman had tackled a player from any other team we would have heard nothing about it. And as the SFA will say nothing as usual in case they upset them, they both get away with constantly dragging this shite up and conveniently ignoring any similar incidents with their own players. CoF
Maybe Miller's getting volleyed backwards. That would be okay.
