That's why I think he will be made manager till end of season but don't think he will be after that .Just feel he has other things in pipeline next season and makes sense to keep till end of season while looking for long term replacement who can rebuild for next season .

And if we scrape by and stay up then he'll get a two year contract perchance, not for me I'd like a change now not later

Jim we could appoint Alex Ferguson and still go down. Our squad isn't any better than the teams around us .Our league position doesn't lie.

I'm aware of that but are we really gonna go with the same old oh we need a safe pair of hands and does Robinsons managerial career match up to what we need at the moment

Oldham were reportedly dire to watch during Robinson's stint with an obsession to play for 0-0 draws, which fits with the NI profile. While we need a manager that can sort out our defensive side of the game, there needs to a balance in order to keep the players and fans engaged.

I like Robinson, he seems a very good coach that can organise a team but given his record at Oldham, regardless of circumstances, he shouldn't be in contention for the Motherwell job on a permanent basis.

After 7/2 and 5/1 defeats a few. 0/0 s doesn't seem too bad

It will be a bit underwhelming if he is indeed appointed by the corn on the cob. However, best of luck to him.

It's the type of appointment we've been making for a long time, former players ,former coaches, former manager's, best of luck to the guy, but yes totally underwhelming.

Be confirmed Robinson by the end of the day, per my original post.

Ah well, we just need to get on with it, and get behind the new manager. He must have impressed at his interview with his vision for the future of the club, or was he the cheap option?

As some others have said it's a difficult job to find a manager in March who can both satisfy the requirement to firm us up defensively and keep us up. Then also be the man we want for the future build of the team.

There will be more managers available, or prepared to leave clubs at the end of the season in May.

So, for me, if no 100% ideal candidate I would prefer we go with Robinson until season end then move fairly quickly to appoint a long term manager. Unless, for example, there is an outstanding candidate ready to come in and do a 3 month shift for us.

If we do go with Robinson full perm manager I would be surprised as he is inexperienced and basically unproven. If he keeps us up however I wouldn't be surprised to see him given the gig.

So Mitch why interview valakari after a decision has been made, very poor show

Did they actually interview him?

I would personally give him a shot, he clearly wants it and hasn't been deterred by missing out last time. He has experience and has shown he knows how to get results. Might instill a bit of passion back into the dressing room.
