FirParkCornerExile
Our forward players pressed Rangers really well today, which was the underlying reason for such a good performance. If we can match that on Wednesday night we will win quite comfortably. Dying to see the highlights. they are worth watching ....
Lobey_Dosser
Get the impression the players are spending more hours on the training field since McGhee departed. Hopefully we are fresh enough for Wednesday after running ourselves into the ground today.
Richie
A lot of good shifts today, particularly up front. Pressed high although admittedly dropping a bit deeper 2nd half, although that's when we had our best chances. Bowman was a good target man and Frear looks as if he's developing into a good asset.
Ya Bezzer!
Good performance, we were a threat up front and we defended well when we were under pressure. Was a bit disappointed we seemed to sit back at the beginning of the second half because we looked like we could score every time we went forward - Rangers were a shambles at the back. First half we were well on top, Rangers were abysmal. 2nd half Rangers pushed us back from the start of the half. We defended well and won almost all the high balls but it only needs one good ball in to score a goal so it was all most inevitable Rangers would score. Even the best teams are playing with fire defending that deep. After that we came out again and attacked, why we didn't do that from the start of the half I'm not sure but we looked all the better for it. At that point the game really burst into life and was actually a really exciting match to watch. End to end, lots of chances and both goalkeepers have pulled off some great saves. We had a couple of chances were you can't believe its not gone in. Overall I think we edged the match. We were much the better team in the first half, Rangers probably better overall in the 2nd half but the last 20-25 minutes were fairly even. By the way, fair play to the referee for booking Waghorn for his 'penalty' dive.

weeyin
Robinson's post match was also good to hear. Set up with a positive approach because what we'd done for the last 20 games "obviously wasn't working" and thought that this "was a game we could win". No coincidence he was involved in the play-off win. Early days, I know, but I'm already a big fan of his approach. He must have been reading the posts on here.

Andy_P
Delighted with the point yet at the same time a touch rueful that it wasn't all three. We couldn't have asked for a better start and pleasingly didn't sat back but looked to build on it when we could. We were well deserving of the lead at half-time and whilst they had one effort that whistled past the post I don't think Samson had a save to make in the first half. The second was more of a contest and, now I the aftermath when I think on it, turned into a cracking game of football. Their new manager (he of the media's hilarious fawning over him scouting the opposition - fucking revolutionary stuff indeed) has been quoted as saying it was down to fitness and illness but he also appeared to change their formation to match our own which I thought was a nod to Robinson's tactics. They certainly upped it in the second half as you would expect but it was all about who would get the first goal in the half. For all they had loads of pressure and a stack of corners we looked excellent coming forward but just couldn't get the final ball right, or the effort was weak. A fine response to them levelling but absolutely gutting to have the goal disallowed. I haven't seen it again so I don't know what it was disallowed for. I'm also quite intrigued to see again when the linesman disallowed it. Maybe he had his flag in the air earlier and I just missed it in the celebrations but it seemed to take quite a few seconds - the length of time it took for Rangers keeper to get up off his arse and run within a couple of feet of him - before he put his flag up. That definitely left the impression he had been pressured and perhaps had a bearing on the comments Robinson is quoted as having said. But it was a good point, and the very least we deserved for a fine afternoon's work. The Accies result was a frustration, particularly the timing and manner in which it came but I'm sure a few of their fans (and Caley's too) will have come out of their games and cursed when they saw we'd got an unexpected result too. Lots of really good performances today. Our recent and sometimes maligned English non-league signings all looked good. Frear and Bowman look they are growing in confidence with each passing game and their contributions are becoming important with that. Elliot is going to an asset for his deliveries and trickery on the ball and I was really impressed with Bowman in particular. He looked stronger and was able to bring a good deal of physicality to his game. Interesting that Robinson managed to find a way of getting Bowman, McDonald and Moult into team in a way that they complemented one another and not just three fowards doing their own thing. Not suitable for every game perhaps but useful to know it can work when the occasion arises. I think it's worth bearing in mind that we've had two weeks to prepare for that game today whereas we've now got three days to prepare for a team who will play in a different style entirely but if we can maintain the intensity of the performance from today in midweek I'd be confident we can get three points. Spiderpig
Just watched the highlights and from the chances we created its a bit disappointing to not get the win, but considering our record there and the position we are in a point is a good days work. As for the disallowed goal, it was a bad angle on the highlights but i don't think Pearson touched the ball, the Linesman never put the flag up right away and it only went up when the rangers keeper and 1 of the defenders started running over to him, so a very poor decision for me, it looked a perfectly good goal. If we keep up that level of performance for the next 3 games against Accies, Partick and Ross county we will be safe this year
ML1
No coincidence he was involved in the play-off win. As far as i recall having paid home and away to watch the shite that led up to us finding ourselves in the play offs he didnt just roll up that morning ... but leaving that aside He'd do well to realise that we dont have the squad to set up defensively and that we ARE equipped to go on the front foot especially against the rest of the bottom 6 that we are about to face The close season and his ability to recruit is a worry for another day , we surely have enough firepower to see us finish 3rd bottom at least if he sets us up right ? weeyin
As far as i recall having paid home and away to watch the shite that led up to us finding ourselves in the play offs he didnt just roll up that morning ... but leaving that aside He rolled up on 14th Feb 2015, after which we won 7, drew 3 and lost 6 of our last 16 (including the play-offs). Not brilliant, but not bad - and we'd only won 4 league games since August before he joined us.
Pettywulliegrew-2
Great point but only if we beat Accies, hope we'll fans come out in big numbers as i hear Accies might bring close to 300 supporters.....Ba boom Hopefully we don't give these wee Fannie's the run of the whole south stand and stick them up the top tier as far away from the East stand as possible.......or just stick them in the main stand...and give them a personal escort like the St J game

Ref got it spot on.

joewarkfanclub
Really good performance. We are looking much better defensively, although Id still like to see us stop more cross balls coming in. However, we are dealing with them much better when they do. Thought we were the better team in the first half and deserved to be ahead. Brave but correct decision from Steven McLean to book Waghorn for diving. Manys a ref would have given it. Rangers changed it at half time to match us up and it seemed to take us a wee while to work that out but we did. Was a fairly end to end last half our but thought we had the better chances. Gutted not to have brought back the 3 points, but like others have said, that level of performance until the end of the season will see us safe.
