Welldaft Mk1
Again everything pretty much covered in previous posts. Hard to criticise level of football on that abysmal excuse for a football pitch. Dunne did not play well. At least 3 times he tried to take the ball past an Accies player only to lose possession and each time they could have capitalised. Nothing against the guy per se. He is fit and athletic but he is the weakest signing from the summer. Hammell would not have been risked on that pitch but reamianis to be seen who plays left back v h**s. The biggest mystery is why all Well fans are not backing Hartley to score goals. I took £160 profit today for anytime and last goalscorer. Cashed out after 65 minutes or it would have been £100 more
Happy Dosser
"As long as Madden is not appointed referee. If he is we should call for an enquiry." Remember he refereed at Ibrox when we cuffed The Sons of William 3-1 in the play-offs and was pretty fair. I worry more about Spirtle-Legs Thomson or Gollum, my preciousssss, to be honest. GazzyB
If one of the top three wins the Scottish Cup, does 4th get into Europe...? Also I cannot believe I wanted McGhee to stay at the time around he got sacked last season. The difference in attitude, mentality and footballing ability between under McGhee and under Robbo is staggering.
texanwellfan
Not sure why but we struggled to even play simple short passes last year. The one thing I have noticed, in what little I have seen this season, is that there is much more movement from our players off the ball when we are in possession. I think what Robinson has done is the fix the basics and what a difference that has made. Remains to be seen if he can build on that foundation and turn us into a really good football playing team...... while keeping the basics there and still winning games. fat_tony
I also think some of that was due to the way our season was going. Get into a negative spiral, heads go down, nobody wants the ball, and before you know it, none of your players are capable of passing the ball ten yards. It's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The belief, determination, and work-rate in this current side are credit to Robinson though, and it's much easier to keep doing good things when you're getting the results. It was a day to grind out a result which we are more than capable of doing these days. Accies could have tried to play a better brand of football, but with or without Crawford, they know its not effective on that surface. Peter Hartley for me was MOTM and again Andy Rose showed his worth with tireless running and an important goal. Carson too impressed and is certainly a huge improvement on Samson. I thought that Cadden and Campbell looked jaded but they still gave 100%. Had both been fully fit then it might well have been a more comfortable scoreline for us. Although still remaining competitive in midfield, we did lack that wee edge we normally have and midweek international duty took its toll. I did wonder if Campbell might have made way for say Grimshaw at half time. Cadden looked knackered. The game was scrappy, niggly and tousy with Accies predictably resorting to their simple but usually effective brand of non football. It was a hoot to watch Martin Canning castigating the officials for failing to punish us for time wasting. Craig Thomson again had a poor and inconsistent game and was too easily conned by streetwise players. However some of the dives had to be seen to be believed. I don't know yet how Darian MacKinnon lasted until half time let alone full time. We were sat in front of a smashing old lady and her son and boy did she let her feelings known. Suffice to say that neither Thomson nor MacKinnon will be on her Christmas card list. A real character! MacKinnon does a job for them and we all know what it is. However he threw 2 deliberate elbows yesterday and committed at least 10 fouls that I could see and yet was not even yellow carded. I have to mention the poor stewarding yesterday which caused a completely avoidable altercation or two. Our party presented our tickets to a steward for checking but were told just to go and to sit anywhere, which we did. Just prior to kick off two guys appeared and asked us to move as we were in their seats. We explained what we had been instructed to do but they weren't happy, understandably so. The situation was resolved amicably though when we moved along one seat to accommodate them. All was well that ended well as far as that was concerned. As some of you will have witnessed, one punter turned up very late and demanded his ticketed seat right behind the goal. He then argued with a steward for what seemed like hours before he got his seat. I felt sorry for the fans in the row immediately behind him who no doubt hardly saw a thing for several minutes. No doubt there were more such incidents, which could have have caused totally avoidable trouble. Now I don't know what stewards were told beforehand; maybe our steward just got it wrong, but such things shouldn't happen. But, to finish on a positive note, our team did the business on the park and our big support behaved well off it and backed the team to the hilt. I asked why and she said she didn't know. Surely if Motherwell have been selling tickets all week and only a couple of hundred were sent back for sale the gates should have been the opposite way round and that not being the case they should tell the fans as they come out the car park and not after waiting in the queue for ages. There shouldn't be any need to be 'escorted - shown' to your seat. All the tickets have row and seat numbers on them, if you or anyone else is incapable of finding the correct seat, I doubt you should be out on your own. Has the nanny state taken that much control? We as a support shouldn't need to ask where to sit - go to the seat your ticket has been allocated for - is that really too much to expect? As for the guy at the front - he had every right to arrive when he did and expect to get the seat he was given a ticket for. Would you expect to relinquish your season ticket seat, because someone else happened to be told 'sit wherever you lilke mate!".
 We didn't ask the steward to escort us to our seats or where our seats were. We were told to sit anywhere. Normally I'm a stickler for sitting in the correct seat but we were instructed to sit anywhere. I was brought up to respect authority and if a steward tells you to do something, within reason, you do it. We were simply following "official" guidance or advice whatever you wish to call it. Either fans should be told sit in their seat or else or they should be told sit anywhere. I can see both points of view, but these incidents were down to stewarding errors. Gordon, I take your point about the turnstiles and this has happened to us before. Now we simply walk to the far away ones. You still had a ticket in your possession with a row and seat number which when you bought it you would be expecting to occupy surely. They do seem amateurish at best in organising crowd access. Made no sense at all that they sell 1800+ tickets and have more turnstiles for PATG, than pre-purchased tickets. But, to finish on a positive note, our team did the business on the park and our big support behaved well off it and backed the team to the hilt. Too often in the past the team has let down a big travelling support but not yesterday. No doubt that instruction line caused issues, but I have to question why?
