Better without it, however, it could be worse we could be Wycombe Wanderers. Time to get Brian McClair on board.

That's kinda how I thought our kit was gonna be this year Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Happy Dosser
Why would QoS do such a thing? As you say, claret with an amber yoke was our first in those Bradford C. colours, followed by stripes, before we followed the Righteous Path of The Hoop. Don't get the Dumfries connection. weeyin
Looking at the Historical Kits website, the 5th Kings Own Scottish Borderers played in this kit from 1912-15, and they were one of the 2 teams that merged to form Queen of the South in 1919. So 2019 will the centenary of the club being formed and this, presumably, is a nod to that history. Here's the pic of their 1912 kit from that site. A few teams have worn that C&A shirt (us included).
underboyleheating
Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge has an original Motherwell C&A shirt on display (in use between 1913-24).

underboyleheating
Also worth noting that Montrose wore this same C&A kit from 1912-19 predating us by a year before switching to black and white and eventually settling on blue and white in 1938. Peebles Rovers also wore a variation of the kit in season 1922-23, however the amber section went straight across rather than in a curve. Was just about to ask you which other clubs had worn this kind of strip. Historical Football Kits is a fascinating website but I'd never looked closely at the Montrose or Peebles Rovers pages. I'm presuming Bradford City's winning the FA Cup in 1911 brought this strip to people's attention and how it would avoid common colour clashes. Going the other way, I never understood why Aberdeen changed from relatively unusual black and yellow stripes to scarlet after WW2 but that's the Mutton Molesters for you. This was the very reason why we changed from a predominantly blue kit to the claret and amber of Bradford City. Colour clashes were a nightmare and by wearing c&a it meant that a change was less likely to be required. Bradford City’s colours were unique in football but not in rugby. Indeed Bradford City borrowed their kit from the local rugby team before eventually getting their own kit. Prior to that the closest to c&a in the league was probably the Burton Swifts/United/Tranmere Rovers kit that was first worn 1885(Burton) 1889 (Tranmere). The shirts were registered as orange and maroon.

Suprawell
A truly horrible home kit. Looks like someone has attacked the neck with a pair of scissors. Poor stuff.
underboyleheating
An interesting historical shirt illustration that pretty much sums up Motherwell’s classic pre 2000 kit history very well. ©Gavin Hall
