claretband
Simple question but what would be your answer? It’s a tough one on current form... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haggischomper
It's actually an easy one on current form... Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
fizoxy
It’s Gillespie’s place to lose. a conundrum we haven’t seen since Woods/Howie
The African
If both fit and well, probably Carson. A decision will have to be made in the summer though, as I doubt either will be happy to play second fiddle for too long. Will we be able to secure a nice fee for either? Not the worst problem to have though.
sbcmfc
Hypothetically if Carson was fit for our next game, you’d have to say Gillespie holds the gloves and stick with him until he gets injured/suspended or loses form. If say Carson returns for pre season in July, there’s a natural break so could put him back in.... 1st world problems!
weeyin
Gillespie has been on better form this season than Carson was before his injury. Not that Carson was bad, just that Gillespie has been better - and uses his extra height to good effect.
Yorkyred
Gillespie, I don’t see Carson getting back in regardless.
steelboy
I'd say Carson. He's better on corners/crosses and his kicking is much better. The answer is probably the one that will sign an extension.
Mitch
Carson is the better of the two, but Gillespie has been excellent since coming in. No issues at all with him being the number 1 once (could be if after his injury) moves on.
supermarv
Weren’t clubs looking at Carson for 1mil roughly, so wouldn’t mind getting a fee for him. However, although I do like Gillespie and it’s position to keep Carson is better.
twistandshout1983
Tough one to call, Gillespie the man in possession of the gloves though and I would stick with him. Good problem to have but
Winning by Name
Two very good keepers. Happy with either if they are both fit.
Yodo
Let's hope Trevor makes a full recovery then take it from there ,Gillespie looks more comfortable every game he plays . A good problem to have probably for next season but one of them won't be happy .
middleeastdave
Very unfair question as Trevor has been a good keeper for us and through no blame on him he has this horrible DVT, but has to be said Mark has been just as good if not better in recent form. Rumour control reckons Trevor will not play again?
Joeboy
He was on off the ball and the open goal podcasts yesterday and said he is on warfarin (a blood thinner) and can't do contact sports until May 25th when his dosage of that ends. He said they are still trying to find the root cause but he hopes to get the green light to return for pre-season.
claretband
Just asked because I can't ever remember having two keepers of such quality on our books at the same time, if they are both fit and available at the start of next season then I could see Robbo flipping a coin ! Brazilian
Carson’s story from himself reported by Scott Mullen https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/47098220?__twitter_impression=true
numpty
Without both, we'd possibly have been in bigger trouble this year.... so I'd quite like to keep both if they're both happy. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to keep Carson (assuming he's fit), just on the basis that a full international goalkeeper has the potential to make us an extra few quid if he moves on again in a year or two. I'd agree with that although perhaps his illness had something to do with his form earlier in the season which was not as good as last season. But generally I'd say if you have players performing anywhere on the field you leave them there so it's Gillespie's position to lose now. joewarkfanclub
Trevor was absolutely outstanding last season. Didnt quite hit the same heights this season but then neither has the rest of the team and you have to factor in his injury. No doubt Gillespie has been brilliant since he came in so its his jersey to lose. Not sure if there will be any bids for Trevor close season now that he is out. More likely Gillespie could attract interest. Hard to see how we can keep both happy long term, so getting some money in for one and keeping the other would be advantageous and make up for the early cup exit. Whatever happens its a nice problem to have.
