Well Well
Yeah seems a bit low to me but only reporting what i saw...hmm reported on @VivaMotherwell - no idea how reliable that twitter account is tbh
Orinoco
To sell for 200k, if true, you would think the sell on percentage would need to be pretty high, to recoup even just his true value. Surely settling for such a low amount, is dangerous to other transfer dealings with other out of contract players.

Technically we aren’t selling, we are getting training compensation.

If true then how low will Hastie’s be? In Hastie's case, the club wants the full value of the tribunal formula. In Cadden's case - if true - they may see more value in a sell-on, extras for number of appearances, international caps or whatever factors into the contracts these days. wellowell
Always quotee as 600k compo when Robbo discusses it so would be surprised if Motherwell took 200k maybe accept 350/400 with sell on but accepting 200 seems very low .
wellowell
You can still sell to stop tribunal I’m sure so can come to a deal which includes sell on instead of going down compo route
johntaylormfc
Just guessing, but if the figure if £600k, I imagine no-one will be willing to pay it. So do we keep him on his current salary for a years contract, then lose him for nothing, or do we meet somewhere in the middle?
Orinoco
Anyhow £200k is a pathetic amount given modern day transfer dealings, especially involving english clubs given the money they continue to receive from sky and the various sponsers. It would seem strange to settle for less for an established 1st team player, than what we have agreed to release youth players who have not played a 1st team game.
DEWELL
I would imagine Oxford offered 200 grand we want 600 and we've met in the middle. Good luck to him anyway .
superward
Slightly different as its cross border apparently. So, Fifa guidelines kick which works out as €300k + 5% sell on. Unless we agree on something else with the acquiring team of course. Also, just to provide an example to thr critics on here that it seems to only be us that cant hold on to promising youngsters: http://www.talkingbaws.com/2019/06/bayern-reportedly-close-to-signing-celtic-youngster-liam-morrison/
weeyin
Digging through the FIFA documentation it seems that the current payments for English teams are €90k for Cat 1 teams, €60k for Cat 2, €30k for Cat 3 and €10k for Cat 4. And it's up to each League to categorize their teams. Then it's multiplied by the number of years a player is with a club between the ages of 12 and 23. So a figure around €300k makes sense if Oxford have been put in the Category 3 band. For the interested reader, details on Training Compensation and Solidarity Payments are here and the FIFA categories are here. (No guarantees these are the most up to date details). I liked the look of Gorrin last season, thought he was excellent any time I saw him, and Cadden has been a great servant to the club, both will be missed imho.
The African
Took a little while for Gorrin to adapt to the speed of the game here, which is hardly surprising given the change from the A-League. Once he found his feet though, and stayed injury free, the only thing you could criticise him for was the regularity of mistiming in the tackle which resulted in too many bookings. Pity he couldn’t be persuaded to hang around for another season. He will be hard to replace. Cadden is a tough one. Great servant to the club, and a decent player. However, injuries at the wrong time and his versatility leading to him not having a settled position in the side conspired against him and he consequently hasn’t got the move up in the game that he deserves. Best of luck to the both of them

As you say good luck to both Gorrin and Cadden if they move on. They deserve a move. From our POV we'll be another £270,000 better off.
MelvinBragg
Interested to see squad numbers announced and numbers 9 and 11 still up for grabs (and probably 7 as well). Expecting Aribiyi to take 11 but looks like the main striker hasn't arrived yet...

Lobey_Dosser
Burrows recently indicated that we’re trying hard for Ariyibi but should anything materialise, it’s likely to be nearer the end of the window.

daver
I'd be surprised if we could get Ariyibi as I assume he's used to wages that are way beyond our pay structure.

MelvinBragg
I know we're still looking to add players, particularly in the forward areas but having looked again at the squad numbers, what struck me is how thin we are in midfield. Unless Polworth is earmarked to replace Turnbull, or Donnelly and Grimshaw are seen as viable defensive midfield options, we have only two centre midfielders in Sloth and Campbell. Or are we expecting Semple or Cornelius to step up. A big ask... Starting to get a bit concerned about the upcoming season. I know there's over a month til the league season starts but even games against Morton and Queen of the South could be tricky without a working midfield... AllyMax
Love the way the BBC describe Turnbull as 'Celtic Target' rather then 'Motherwell Player'. Wanks !
