Loving the kits, especially the away one, and especially without a sponsor plastered across it.

Unfortunately, it would be extremely unusual for a top flight club to start a season without one, and therefore a bit surprising that one hasn't yet been announced.

Personally think it would be great to see Suicide Awareness  move from back to front of shirt, sadly seems to affect a lot of us in the area.

Absolutely, we probably all know individuals who are struggling with life for one reason or another and i’ve certainly had the experience of knowing someone who took their own life at a young age.

Similar to Hearts ‘Save the Children’ involvement it would be great if we could promote a force for good by showcasing Suicide Awareness on the front of the shirt and try and stay clear of the more controversial sponsorship partners. Betting and payday loan companies have been shown to have a negative impact on some peoples lives and as a community club that is something that has never sat well with me.

Yep, along with alcohol which clubs don’t seem to have a problem plastered on front of their shirts. Mental health issues are huge in the west of Scotland with suicide  rates among men at high levels, not sure if that’s partly down to how men feel they should be perceived ( strong/tough). While I understand sponsorship is huge it would be nice to see the club think about who sits on the front of those shirts.

To be fair, the club (and the Trust) already does a fair amount of promotion of mens' mental health and suicide prevention. It would be nice to be in a position where we could turn down a chunk of money for sponsorship, but we aren't a Hearts (or a Barcelona) and don't have that luxury.

(I also have doubts about the effectiveness of shirt sponsorship, but that's a different debate - I can safely say, however, I have never used any of the products or services of any of our shirt sponsors ever).

There's certainly a discussion to be had about beer or gambling sponsors, but that is a wider social issue. I'm a believer that education and awareness is always much more effective than banning things.

I've had Motorola phones. That's it. And that was obviously long after their involvement with us.

I owned a couple of Commodore Amigas with Motorola processors while they sponsored us... don't think they ever made those chips in East Kilbride, though.

Education awareness of how debt/alcohol/gambling can effect the community at large is very important, however, if a club are helping to promote one thing, but doing the opposite this maybe construed as double standards. The front of shirt sponsor at any club has always been the holy grail and far too many sell it to the highest bidder. Although I do understand that for cash strapped clubs the lure of easy money is hard to resist. The current sponsor trend leans very heavily towards the gambling industry, however, in times gone by it would have been alcohol or payday loan companies that ruled the roost. Industries that I’m sure that we can agree that can cause wider community health and debt issues. I see Hibernian have also given up their front of shirt to the Hibernian Community Foundation which has to be applauded, as I’m sure there would have been a gambling company waiting in the wings with a blank cheque.

If we had a new owner that wrote us a blank cheque to pay off our debt and invest in the club, and we had as many paying fans as Hibs, we might be able to afford that too.

I suspect, however, it's a sop thrown to the fans who were led down the community ownership path.

It’s not only debt free clubs like Hibernian who do it. Stenhousemuir did it last season when they wore ‘Warriors in the Community’ on their shirts. The Stenhousemuir Supporters' Trust now hold the largest shareholding but profits are not paid to shareholders and directors receive no salaries. So it’s not always down to affordability, it’s about promoting what’s right for the club and the community at large.

Alcohol (Scottish Brewers our first shirt sponsor), Gambling industry (Jaxx, BetPark) and Pawnbroking (Cash Converters), are probably our four most contentious  backers since it was introduced in Scotland. That’s not to say that their money wasn’t welcome, as without it we would have definitely been much worse off. For obvious reasons, Ian Skelly will always be our most iconic. All sponsorship is open to scrutiny by the fans as the sponsors are effectively being endorsed by the club we finance and support.  However,  I’m sure if you dig deep enough all our previous sponsors will have a few unwelcome skeletons in their closet.

Looks  like Clyde........Big Shuggy in the background ........must be a cup tie  as Edvalson played in the premier  for us

The date  of the match would be important as it would give an accurate timeline to the  brief sponsorship which I reckon was just for cup games.

Yes, I think you can glimpse the dog track beyond the wire fence at Shawfield. Your dates are quite right and it does look wintry.
