0Neils40yarder
I'd play Trevor Carson at right back before Gallagher...and Jumbo can take that whatever way he likes
steelboy
Having seen the teams everyone else is putting out I feel quite confident about this season. Lamie and McGinley are question marks but we definitely have better options in midfield and up front than the other 9 clubs.

I agree with the midfield and up front options but I think Lamie and McGinley are only question marks because they are new to us and will come good with a bit of time. They are both stepping up. It's a bigger step for McGinley but even for Lamie our system places more demands on a centre back than Livi's and he won't have the plastic advantage. I do remember the same being said about Rob McKinnon when he signed for us and that worked out very well.

Yes. I hope though that our midfield is good enough this year to take a lot of pressure off them and offer them a protective shield until they settle in. Stu92
Quote Motherwell and Northern Ireland midfielder Liam Donnelly faces at least two months out with a knee problem. Also able to play left-back, Donnelly is the fourth player injured in that position, prompting manager Stephen Robinson to seek a new signing. Donnelly, 24, missed a penalty in last week's loss at Ross County and sat out Saturday's defeat by Dundee United. "He will go to the specialist today, we are not sure if he needs surgery," said Robinson. "But it will be a minimum of eight weeks, probably a little bit longer." Motherwell have problems at left-back with Jake Carroll recovering from a long-term Achilles injury, summer signing Nathan McGinley sidelined for up to six weeks and Charles Dunne also out. "We are actively looking to try and get someone in in that defensive position," added Robinson, whose side attempt to gain their first Scottish Premiership points of the season at home to Livingston on Wednesday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53737209
steelboy
Have we got any cards left to play? Murphy hasn't had a sniff at Rangers so he may be available again.

livivoice
Lamenting the competition for Grimshaw at RB it might be worth considering Ralston at Celtic. Before the brickbats start flying I fully appreciate that he ain't Cafu but would I feel offer an upgrade on Grimmy. Nor do I think Celtic would be hard to deal with as Ralston is very much surplus to requirements. Just a thought.
Stu92
Is O'Donnell still training with Accies? By no means 'international standard', but certainly a lot better than many on here give him credit for.

He gives 100% but isn't naturally a right back, he came as a midfielder but wasn't up to the standard of say Campbell so we've put him in a position as he tries hard. He also has very little infant of him to play with on the offensive side, a lack of winger last night was telling. Long is a waste of space in that position. livivoice
Turning to LB I think we would all agree that until Mc Ginley and Carroll return ( perhaps as late as October) we are in the grubber. Seriously, we could be facing getting cut adrift as clubs exploit this glaring weakness plus we could be out of Europe toot sweet. Desperate situations therefore require desperate measures. On the clear understanding that he is physically fit and is injury free and that he would need time to get up to speed , would it be that outrageous to consider the re registering of Stevie Hammell as a stop gap?? Think about it. Stevie is 38, only retired just over 2 years ago, knows the system and wouldn't cost a penny. Also , he wouldn't be anywhere near the oldest player to play in the premier League. Davie Weir springs first to mind. Just putting it out there.

Are we talking about the same Tait that’s played right back all his days and been superb in his tenure except maybe the last season when he found himself out the team. Stephen O’Donnell very much on the cards, definitely better than Grimmy anyway, don’t know how we are going to be paying 2 first team wages for a right back. mfc
Stephen kingsley would be my shout for left back, done well up here, before playing at a decent level down south, though I'm sure he would be after something more than the short term deal we would most likely be offering.
wellowell
I heard it was Stephen O,Donnell but find that hard to believe as was waiting on a championship club down south and we will pay peanuts compared to them

texanwellfan
I assume the O’Donnell thing is all speculation? Play him at right back and move Grimmy to left back? have we actually signed another player?

grizzlyg
I would be happy with o'Donnell, an actual right back and a good spfl player though does look out of depth internationally. But how could we afford him?.
