Hope Springs
I remember Willie as a slight but wiry and tough player who was so gifted. He was one of those clever and generous inside forwards who must have been a centre forward’s dream to play with. RIP, Willie.
Winning by Name
God I feel really old at this minute, first Pat Quinn and now Willie Hunter! 1

It starts when the all the players are younger than you. Then it's the managers that are younger than you. Then you see the surname of a player you recognise and wonder if it's their son - and it turns out to be their grandson.

Happy Dosser
My first 'Well hero when I was a nipper: such an elegant player and a wonderful passer also. Met Billy (as his family called him) and his charming wife in Glasgow a few years ago and he came to our table for about ten minutes to chat to us about his time at Motherwell. Think he suffered a compound arm break against Rangers. Latterly he wrote poetry for an Alzheimer's charity and took an interest in Pat Quinn in his declining years. As others have said, a complete gentleman from a totally different age.
Wellinessex
I remember getting his autograph when I was about 9 or 10 (I'm now 68!). I was visiting my uncle in Law Hospital and Willie was a patient there as well having suffered a bad leg break. Long long time ago but I can still remember how pleasant he was to me. 1
