ropy
Go back to the team against Ross County? Maguire straight back in, will he have trained with the team?
grizzlyg
Yep hopefully Campbell and Maguire back and get O'Hara back in at centre half. Left back is a dilemma as (in my opinion only) I dont rate Lamie or Mcginley, maybe grimmy short term playing there could be option, or try Hastie but cant see that happening as he gets more abuse on this forum than everyone else put together ..COYW
weeyin
We really missed the energy of Campbell at the weekend. Left back is more of a problem because you can't just stick any defender in there and hope they can adapt. It's a more specialist position - as we have clearly demonstrated. Opponents have sussed that out and it's no coincidence that recent opponents have focused on attacking us down that flank.

GazzyB
Archer O'Donnell Mugabi Gallagher Grimmy/McGinley/my granny/literally any other cunt than Lamie Campbell Crawford Polworth Lang Watt Cole Surprised at the calls for Maguire to be reinstated, Crawford is a far superior player on and off the ball. Wouldn't mind seeing Long in from the start but he can't play out wide and Watt doesn't deserve to be dropped for two poor games. I like O'Hara but he's not played well all season in centre mid. wellsince75
Personal view is Carrol is a much better left back than either Lamie or McGinley have shown. (hopefully he'll be back soon) I don't believe that Lamie is good enough, McGinley I have serious doubts over and same for Mugabi , who although much improved causes us goals through poor positioning and needless mistakes. This years defensive signings have not proven to better than the existing squad.
Kmcalpin
Don't forget that McGinley is primarily a central defender.
wunderwell
Stephen if your reading this - this is your team - Steve Clarke Style Archer O'Donnell - Mugabi - Gallacher - O'Hara - McGinley Campbell - Crawford Polworth Watt - Long Thank me later. wunderwell
Truth be told I'd hate to see Lang dropped - this would be purely for getting a result.
Goggles & Flippers
Inconsistency is dripping from the menagerie that is season 2020/21. So 5-2 to us, Lamie getting a hat-trick. Of course, after the shit show that was Saturday afternoon for this to happen we'll need both Bevis (running into a post) and Gallagher (square go-ing the ref) to require Lamie's substitution 60 minutes as a last resort. Kmcalpin
A lot will depend on whether Campbell and may be Maguire are fit and able to play. That aside, I'd revert to a 4-4-2 to give us a bit more width and give the hitherto exposed full backs much needed cover and protection. If we are able to, drop O'Hara back into central defence, bring back McGinley and put Grimmy in at left midfield. Mugabi is ok in a back 3 or 5 but not in a back 4. Two strikers from Cole, Watt and Lang. We don't have the pacy wide players need for 4-3-3. The ramblings of an armchair football manager! David
Hibs have looked not too bad this season, but it's certainly a game we can win. Hopefully we see an improvement on the performance against St Johnstone. In saying that, we're hardly a team in dire form. If you take out the Celtic and Rangers games we've not lost a league game since August 22nd, which is five games unbeaten. Not perfect by any stretch, but not catastrophic either. steelboy
I said before the first St Johnstone game we would need to significantly raise our game to climb the table and instead we have regressed. Robinson needs to get more out of the front three and work on ways to get them possession in dangerous areas rather than the 40 yards from goal with 7 defenders in place scenario we continually saw on Saturday. Murphy ripped us to shreds the only time he has returned to Fir Park so keeping him quiet will be vital.

Murphy is the easiest player in the world to defend against, all he ever wants to do is cut inside, so don't let him do that and show him down the line, and he won't be as much of a threat. (Thats it jinxed now so fully expect a hat trick from him)
milo
Surely, surely, surely we won’t see Lamie in a Motherwell shirt ever again?!?! Hopefully see O’Hara back at centre half and Campbell back too. I’d play Archer instead of Chapman in goals. 2-0 Hibs though.

Hopefully his threat is recognised and we deal with it appropriately.
Andy_P
For all my OP cynicism I'm fairly optimistic about this one. I felt we should have beaten them both at Easter Road at the start of the season and in the game back at Fir Park at the beginning of the year. I would also contend that we were much better than the 3-1 loss suggested at Easter Road not long after Jack Ross took over. What was a fairly decent display, mistake and lack of cutting edge aside, was lost in the gushing praise that came Ross' way. So all in all, they don't hold massive fears. Add in Campbell and that aforementioned allusion to making up for last Saturday and I'm confident of a point at least.
Burn_Broomfield
I can see a defeat ahead this weekend. We're not inspiring confidence at the back at all and are persistently wasteful at the other end.
steelboy
Win this game and beat Aberdeen at Fir Park and we are right in the mix for third spot and automatic Europa League entry. The big stumbling block is that we are pish. On the other hand this season has had a creepy echo of 2013/14. Signing absolute muck. Torrid football but still pulling out results. Giving away stupid penalties in Europe. Climbing the table whilst taking regular gubbings. A revolving cast of diddy goalies (not Trev obviously). We are going to qualify for the Europa Group stage and buckets of cash with a goal that bounces in off Ricki Lamie's arse in the final minute at Pittodrie and takes us ahead of them on GD. Derek McInnes will meltdown on Radio Scotland regarding our free 6 points and it will be glorious. 3
yosemite sam
With Campbell and Maguire back available, I would go back to the back four that was in place before of O'Donnell, O'Hara, Gallagher and McGinley, and take it from there with Campbell , Maguire and Polworth in midfield.
