weeyin
McGinn doing what good captains do and sticking up for his new team mate instead of slagging him off. Quote “He was probably thinking, why did I say that? But I said plenty of stupid things when I was coming through at St Mirren. “At the same time, they're not here to make the numbers up, they're here to take our places if eventually they're better than the ones that are here and we no longer get called up. “So they need to have that confidence, they need to come here and not just make the numbers up, come here and try and get a starting position and then become a mainstay for years to come. “He definitely has the ability to do so and so does James. I watch Motherwell pretty regularly and my brother Paul always spoke about him highly. “But not only that, his mentality, he's a good team-mate, very mature. So obviously I've been really keen to play alongside him and see him this week in training. Even sat at lunch there, he's a quiet guy but desperate to succeed and work hard.”
grizzlyg
Wee interview with Clarke on BBC website defending young Lennon and the crazy coverage his comments got. Hopefully he had a word with Carver and McGinn then who didn't help matters. Fair play to Clarke Ps. Dear John, I take it you then regret doing your stupid oompah German dance then not kicking a ball in the Euros. Pps. Yer still a great player though

Worried about losing yer place? Listening to the Lee Miller interview I think Lennon does regret phasing his desire to be the best in the way he did. Nothing wrong with wanting and saying you want to be the best and McGinn readily acknowledged that. He also spoke highly of Miller's ability and maturity. McGinn revealed how badly he himself had been treated by senior players when called up, Charlie Adam in particular, and gave the impression that he would ensure Miller was not treated in such a bitter, jealous manner. I thought McGinn spoke well as a captain, supported Miller and said nothing wrong. It's only the media looking for a story and a few on here that seem determined to find fault. Steve Clark also spoke well on the matter and dismissed it as nonsense.
wellgirl
The daily mail believe it or not have called Carver out for the comments made about Lennon. Don't think Lennon did anything wrong. He was asked a question and he answered it and I think John McGinn could have been a bit more supportive but didn't throw Lennon under the bus

He made light of the "best player" comment and spent the rest of the time talking about how he had the right attitude and mentality and should be looking replace the old guard in the team: "At the same time, they're not here to make the numbers up, they're here to take our places if eventually they're better than the ones that are here and we no longer get called up." I am more annoyed with carver the dinosaur. Anyway we move on.

More importantly, I hope Max Johnston is having a few conversations with Miller to tell him how good it is to make the move away from Scotland and play in Europe. 2

weeyin
Scott McTominay sticking up for Lennon today: Quote “We have young players coming in, Lennon (Miller) and James (Wilson) have been a breath of fresh air. They’re good kids who have a bit about them as well, they have personality and you need that to come play for Scotland. “I love seeing young boys come in full of confidence wanting to prove they’re ready to play and in my opinion they’re more than good enough."

robsterwood
Whys Kenny McClean getting start before miller? Scotland abysmal. Least Greece giving younger players a chance.
Kmcalpin
There would have been no harm whatsoever in bringing on Lennon Miller with a few minutes to go. By that time the tie was well and truly lost. Give him his first cap. That kind of attitude is what is holding our international team back.
twistandshout1983
Scotland were really poor tonight , deserved win for Greece . Lennon Miller could not have been any worse at all
Spit_It_Out
I only take an interest in Scotland when our players are involved and what I witnessed I wouldn't want a call up lol. Time for some fresh ideas by the looks of things me thinks.
Happy Dosser
So easy for a Greek manager when he knows Scotland lack natural goalscorers, are weak defensively and generally lack pace. Set your team up to defend strongly early on and then wait for mistakes and hit quickly on the break and the job is done. Glad Lennon missed this abject performance. I'm afraid our chippy passive-aggressive manager's time should have been up after the dreadful Euro performance #Best Fans Worst Team. When will people realise that Clarke and the rest of the Scotland management are useless fuds, constantly filling the squads with bang average at best non Scots just because their Granny or Granpa ate shortbread at the expense of homegrown talent like Miller etc. Its time for the whole management team to be binned and replaced. 6
mio
Clarke will tell the press that there are positives to take from a 3-0 humping at home and they’ll lap it up without a challenge to him. not one of them has the balls to call him out on his diabolical football style and blind loyalty to Arse licking older players. I’d have sacked him after that Germany game…… at half time!!!!
weeyin
Clarke should have gone at the end of the Euros. I'll give him credit for taking an omnishambles of squad and getting some results from them, but he hit a brick wall after that. His performances at both Euros exposed his lack of coaching skill and tactical nous with abject performances in every game. He has taken us as far as his talent permits, and needs to head off to a Director of Football role at some lower league team.
