If St Mirren can do it it’s just possible so can we.

:gaming:

If anything them losing to St.Mirren will make it even more impossible for us to get anything here other than an absolute hammering.

10(ten)-0 home win.

That would be hilarious, if only to read your meltdown posts.

The team you support losing 10-0 would be hilarious because of the ‘meltdown’ of an anonymous Internet forum member?

Each to their own but that’s pretty sad.

Under Ange they seem to fly out the blocks for the first 20 minutes then the tempo drops a bit after that. Managing that first 20 minutes with time wasting, fouls and keeping concentration is key and after that try and play your way into the game.

St Mirren parked the bus and we have to as well. We have no pace at centre back and holding a high line is just inviting them to do the usual wide overlap with Kyogo offside then a cut back to him before the defenders even get a chance to get near him.

Hammell has managed to get the players passing the ball, he's got 10 days to teach them how to defend.

Be great to avoid a scudding. The squad need to keep believing in what they're doing and I'll be happy if we simply make a game of it.

Of course be great to take something from the game.St Mirren were in the right place at the right time, Celtic won't lose many in the full season. It would be rare to lose consecutively.

Anything that keeps the positive play and maintains high confidence will do me.

We need to aim for about 75% possession. They can't score when they don't have the ball.

Would be just our luck if we find our scoring touch and stick 3 or 4 chances away, and still lose.

I'm genuinely interested to see how SH approaches this. Whether he goes for a park-the-bus, flood the midfield, man-marking, counter-attacking or some combination.

The problem is that they are more often than not at least three or four goals up by the time they drop their tempo. They are absolutely ferocious in attack and the pace they play at is phenomenal.

If you look at their home results that's not been the case.

Against Hearts and Aberdeen both games were 1 nil at half time with the openers being after '3 and '13. They finished 2 nil with goals in '74 and '94. The Rangers game was obviously different but the atmosphere won't be the same and we can defend better than Rangers did.

Rather win in the cup game than the league game

Me too.

Especially as I will be going to that game!

Whilst I dont immediately right any game we play off,  I did give up on going to Parkhead ages ago. Paying over the odds for a shite view with a very slim chance of a positive result isnt a productive use of a Saturday afternoon for me.

Hopefully we can get some positive results between now and then to get the home end as full as possible.

Big nights under the lights deserve big performances.

It's going to be tough. Like it or not, this Celtic team are very good. Possibly the best team they've had in quite some time. What they did in that first half against Real Madrid shows that they're no mugs, and that a team on our level should not be able to lay a glove on them if they're on form and up for it.

If we can win either game or get a draw in the league game I’ll be happy.

edit: actually if we play well and get beat by the odd goal, I’ll be ok, maybe not happy but ok. I’ll take it as progress if we make a good game of it.

Exactly the reason we don’t go to Parkhead anymore never missed a game there for years as we always tried, played well and were a bit of a bogey team to them but in recent years it’s a horrendous place to go. Over charged  to be intimidated by most of the Glasgow polis  in the stadium watching and staring at two hundred well fans and getting kettled as we left. They don’t want away fans anyway . Never go again.
Will the lights be needed ko is that bloody early.

Parkhead is one of the few grounds in Scotland I have never been to and have absolutely no intention of ever going to.

The reasons given above are mainly my reasons for avoiding it too, plus the fact that we are almost guaranteed a drubbing on the park means it a trip to avoid. It’s bad enough having them at Fir Park with 4-6k of their fans without travelling to Glasgow, pay over the odds to sit in a corner surrounded by 60k of their odious, sanctimonious scumbag followers.

Are there any updates on our injured players from the Hearts game, didn’t sound too good for Lamie!

Looks like Efford and Lamie might be fit but Arrons is out.
