fizoxy
Spittal is slow, but he also scored our equalizer and has a bunch of assists this year, so wage thief is a bit much. Having a squad where he is an automatic pick isnt helping us though. Our biggest problem right now is that we have no pace at all, and sometimes pace can help paper over the cracks when mistakes are made.
fizoxy
Hammell should have been badgering the 4th official during the VAR review demanding a second yellow for Gordon to the extent that he got sent off if Gordon didn’t. That would have put the referee in a position. Maybe he was? Maybe other players were? The ref knew he had a decision to make, and he made it. I think he was wrong, but I doubt players and managers shouting at him would have made any difference.
grizzlyg
All our defeats are by the odd goal but that doesn't make it any easier, if we had got draw it would have been 4/6 pts from 2 away games but defeat changes the mood and rightly so. Hammell always going to be a long term project so let's see how we do in January transfer window but depends what position we are in, difficult to attract players if you are struggling

couttsy
Just back from Tynecastle and to be honest when you’re in the ground it’s hard to tell if he got the big decisions right or wrong, but if he decides Gordon brought Moult down (and he clearly did) then he should yellow card him as a matter of routine. We all know the reasons he didn’t is because they were already down to 10 and that it was Craig Gordon the Scotland goalkeeper, disgraceful.

Would that be the same Blair Spittal who got the equaliser today and has scored another couple of goals this season so far? Given how paper thin our squad is he probably is the best we have available, but for interest who would you replace him with?

And yes I know that we aren’t blessed with a big budget but we will have to make some moves and they will have to be able to be players who can come in and make an impact straight away, so it’s a big job for Hammell too. I can think of a few managers who would have went toe to toe with the referee over that decision

We weren't particularly good today, but it wasn't quite the bombscare I'm reading. We were far FAR better with Moult and KVV through the middle with McKinstry drifting about in behind them, I'd like to see us continue with that. I'd also like to see us not let an opposition player run 30/40/50 yards with the ball resulting in a goal for the other team. I had initially said we would make the top six this season, but unless we can beat teams like Aberdeen/Hibs/Hearts once in a while it's unfortunately going to be beyond us. Not a chance we'll be in a relegation fight but unfortunately I can't see a top six finish any more. Really pleased to see Moult coming on after the chat of him seeing specialists/he might be done. He looks rusty as fuck but the movement/threat is there. Hopefully he can use the world cup to build up his fitness and we can get something from him for the rest of the season. Sorry, I think at the minute we will be in or around bottom 2 , too weak , to lose 3 goals v 10 men is championship form

Coatsy
VAR is not the issue, were screaming for everything now it's a joke be big boys. We as i have said before need a spine to the team sorry but is see Goss as a luxury player that we can't afford. Slattery falls about all the time and is going backwards IMO but as mentioned elsewhere there are more important things than football when family is involved with him. We need to play Moult and VV together if they are fit enough. Our Central defence is a joke Solholm is a journeyman at best. Not getting slated because he took a microphone and sang a few words. We have no one on posts at corners but doubt Penny would have reached it if he was. We don't track players running through our midfield. If it was not for Kelly it would have been six. As for no chance of relegation! I think we are very much in a relegation fight and as i have said before 10th will be a good result with this team

If the rule is that it’s at the referee discretion then that’s different.

If I was the manager I would play 442 with Sod and McGinn as fullbacks and move penny to left mid with Mckinstry right and goss and Slatterly in the middle. Or if insisting in getting pumped in a 352 I would play : Sol McGinn and lambi at the back, penny and sod wide with Cornelius Slatterly and goss in the middle. If they were injured I would play max Ross in the centre. Also though if I was the manager I would have pin pointed just how weak , slow , fragile and lacking in pace put midfield was and bring someone in rather than waste it on a crocked winger from Huddersfield reserves. watch and follow spittal in a game for 5 mins - he hides when we have the ball, cuts back and plays back when he gets it but is worst off the ball - he jogs like he has two pulled hamstrings and won’t be kidding me anytime soon. the new Iain vigers

Stevie73
I think that performance today tells us we need at least 5 in in January, whether Hammell is the guy to take us forward or not he looked upset at the final score, too many pretenders in our side, no one wants to step up and do the job they are paid to do, fingers crossed the board backs him, then we will see if he’s got it or not. Kmcalpin
4 hours ago, MelvinBragg said: The manager has to go. Not anywhere near good enough. If the midfield continually gives the ball away and the manager keeps picking the same midfield, that's where the blame has to go. Midfield is one area where there is at least an alternative but he perseveres with Spittal in there when his best games have been further upfield. The manager is getting cut a lot of slack here despite repeating the same mistakes. What's that definition of insanity again? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... A tad harsh and perhaps impetuous Greg, but yes you do have a point, and a valid one at that. At what stage, or date, do fans stop blaming Alexander for absolutely everything, including today's tactics, and accept that Hammy is maybe at least 1% responsible? We're making the same mistakes and have the same weaknesses game after game. The fact that he is a very popular former player shouldn't cloud folks' judgement. I've stopped listening to his post match interviews as they're tedious and all the same. As for today, why did we sit back at 2-2 and let Hearts come at us? Losing 3 goals to a ten man team just isn't acceptable and serious questions need to be asked. The squad does have serious weaknesses especially in central defence, centre midfield and up front. However its the lack of leadership and character that worries many. Something is not right. Having said that, we do have some decent players who just aren't performing and who have gone backwards - Kelly, Slattery and VV for example. I'm not saying its all Hammy's fault but..... We are stretched for bodies but we do have alternatives in midfield and I'm not sure he's getting the best out of what we have. The personnel and formation with a lone striker just doesn't seem right and it isn't working.
