Stuart Kettlewell discussion thread

For me there's a huge difference between fans who are genuinely concerned about the direction Kettlewell is taking the club in and people who dig him out for anything and everything and name call him to boot. Some fans have a personal issue with him - that's not on him

I pay my money as well - I don't sit calling him names or looking for anything to call him out over

I think he was still reeling from the fan reaction at Perth when he sat for that interview.. You could see right away on Saturday that he was shaken. I agree he has always spoken positively about the fans and I suspect if he had his time again he would have phrased some of his answers differently. Just my take on it

Yeah. You're probably right

We will disagree but he could have answered them a lot better. Think he forgets 1700 fans paid a lot of money in mid January to witness that performance.  They had a right to be angry.

3 pts tomorrow though would be magic

Im not disagreeing that the fans didn't have the right to be angry. Not at all

There’s plenty fans may want to critique about Kettlewell – his tactics, his signings, his approach to matches – and that’s entirely fair. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.

However, to claim he has no respect for the supporters feels quite off the mark. He’s done, and continues to do, a great deal for the fanbase. Whether it’s engaging with the Society, collaborating with various supporters’ group, or taking the time to accommodate requests that most would understandably pass on, especially given the pressures of his role, his commitment is evident.

To be clear, I’m not suggesting that people shouldn’t challenge his decisions as a manager. But when it comes to his regard for the fans, I don’t believe that’s something we can fairly call into question.

I agree. And I personally think when folk start criticising him - it gathers momentum. Someone says something critical and other people agree and before you know it - people are really down on him. He's not above criticism but I think some of it is over the top and completely unnecessary

Kettlewell’s interviews this week make it clear that it’ll be more of the same from him. To change it up would suggest that he’s listened to the fans who he clearly indicated he has zero respect for, so that isn’t happening. And with that, there’s no way I am going tomorrow, and it seems I’m not alone in that choice.

You need to watch what u say wellfan

they will be on you you know who 🫣

Not directing this to anyone in particular. But if Kettlewell really has zero respect for the fans why is he on video on several away games this season telling the support that they are brilliant.

Why would a manager do that if they didn't care about the fan base? Several times this season he has gone over to the fans and called them brilliant and now he doesn't care about us?

And folk on here are completely entitled to their opinion of him - but in some peoples eyes nothing he does is right anyway. And if that is some peoples view - we could be top of the league and it wouldn't be enough

Because most managers i ever came accross are not even 2 faced

there 10 faced

anybody that played the game will no that as FACT

Two of them are already onto me, but that’s nothing new.

We’ll all revisit this thread at 5pm tomorrow.

I've said multiple times on here that no ones point of view re Kettlewell needs to align with mine. If people who don't like Kettlewell are free to express their opinions - I'll continue to express mine.

I think it's quite obvious what you were suggesting. No I don't have a complex but I'm putting you on ignore. I really can't be bothered - if you have an issue with people who do like Kettlewell - that's not my problem - you didn't mention anyone's name. Maybe you should have if you want to dig folk out.

So we should ignore his remarks about "so called experts"?

If he isnt talking about us, who is he talking about?

Im all for cutting him slack on performances, injuries etc, but those comments go too far for me......

If his comments were simply clumsily phrased and he wasn't referring to the fans then all he has to do is to clarify what he meant. Hopefully someone at the club has had a tactful word in his ear.

No manager can afford to alienate fans unnecessarily.

Exactly.

Anyway. Actions speak louder than words.

I will watch with interest as to how we line up tomorrow, the tactics we employ, and obviously how the game pans out.

I hope for a positive result!
