Stuart Kettlewell discussion thread

For me there's a huge difference between fans who are genuinely concerned about the direction Kettlewell is taking the club in and people who dig him out for anything and everything and name call him to boot. Some fans have a personal issue with him - that's not on himĀ

I pay my money as well - I don't sit calling him names or looking for anything to call him out overĀ

I think he was still reeling from the fan reaction at Perth when he sat for that interview.. You could see right away on Saturday that he was shaken. I agree he has always spoken positively about the fans and I suspect if he had his time again he would have phrased some of his answers differently. Just my take on it

Yeah. You're probably rightĀ

We will disagree but he could have answered them a lot better. Think he forgets 1700 fans paid a lot of money in mid January to witness that performance.Ā  They had a right to be angry.

3 pts tomorrow though would be magic

Im not disagreeing that the fans didn't have the right to be angry. Not at allĀ

Thereā€™s plenty fans may want to critique about Kettlewell ā€“ his tactics, his signings, his approach to matches ā€“ and thatā€™s entirely fair. Everyoneā€™s entitled to their own opinion.

However, to claim he has no respect for the supporters feels quite off the mark. Heā€™s done, and continues to do, a great deal for the fanbase. Whether itā€™s engaging with the Society, collaborating with various supportersā€™ group, or taking the time to accommodate requests that most would understandably pass on, especially given the pressures of his role, his commitment is evident.

To be clear, Iā€™m not suggesting that people shouldnā€™t challenge his decisions as a manager. But when it comes to his regard for the fans, I donā€™t believe thatā€™s something we can fairly call into question.

I agree. And I personally think when folk start criticising him - it gathers momentum. Someone says something critical and other people agree and before you know it - people are really down on him. He's not above criticism but I think some of it is over the top and completely unnecessaryĀ

Kettlewellā€™s interviews this week make it clear that itā€™ll be more of the same from him. To change it up would suggest that heā€™s listened to the fans who he clearly indicated he has zero respect for, so that isnā€™t happening. And with that, thereā€™s no way I am going tomorrow, and it seems Iā€™m not alone in that choice.Ā

You need to watch what u say wellfan

they will be on you you know who šŸ«£

Not directing this to anyone in particular. But if Kettlewell really has zero respect for the fans why is he on video on several away games this season telling the support that they are brilliant.

Why would a manager do that if they didn't care about the fan base? Several times this season he has gone over to the fans and called them brilliant and now he doesn't care about us?Ā

And folk on here are completely entitled to their opinion of him - but in some peoples eyes nothing he does is right anyway. And if that is some peoples view - we could be top of the league and it wouldn't be enoughĀ

Ā

Ā Because most managers i ever came accross are not even 2 faced

there 10 faced

anybody that played the game will no that as FACT

I've said multiple times on here that no ones point of view re Kettlewell needs to align with mine. If people who don't like Kettlewell are free to express their opinions - I'll continue to express mine.Ā

I think it's quite obvious what you were suggesting. No I don't have a complex but I'm putting you on ignore. I really can't be bothered - if you have an issue with people who do like Kettlewell - that's not my problem - you didn't mention anyone's name. Maybe you should have if you want to dig folk out.Ā

So we should ignore his remarks about "so called experts"?

If he isnt talking about us, who is he talking about?

Im all for cutting him slack on performances, injuries etc, but those comments go too far for me......

If his comments were simply clumsily phrased and he wasn't referring to the fans then all he has to do is to clarify what he meant. Hopefully someone at the club has had a tactful word in his ear.Ā

No manager can afford to alienate fans unnecessarily.Ā

Ā

Exactly.

Anyway. Actions speak louder than words.

I will watch with interest as to how we line up tomorrow, the tactics we employ, and obviously how the game pans out.

I hope for a positive result!

Totally agree with that but surely you have enough self awareness to flip that statement and see that you very much come across as someone who cant see him doing anything wrong? - which incidentally is no better or worse than his staunchest critics.

This is a fans discussion board.Ā  Everyones opinion is valid.

I've never said that I think he's never made a mistake - I've also said on more than one occasion that I completely understand that some people are very unhappy just now. They have the right to express that - and some people have - on and offline.Ā

People have the right to be angry. I wasn't at the game last week but if people are unhappy and don't want to go today - I get it.Ā

Well Mr Kettlewell, youā€™ve put a target on your back from your condescending remarks midweek. A very dangerous decision to antagonise fans.Ā

A win and only a win will do for me to help ease some tensions between him and the fans.Ā

cmon the ā€˜Well

That interview on radio scotland just now a shambles..... i'll do what i always do which is work a rediculous number of hours a week for this club....

Wee violin stuart. Lots of us work tons of hours.

We had a bad performance last week & we will try to rectify it....

Good but the issue is not 1 bad performance, its the volume of them this season. And how many times have we had to sit and listen to you say that exact same thing but yet you keep sending us out the same way

He's clearly feeling the pressure here. Wouldnt surprise me if the players have been letting him know its not working

Just heard it myself. Not really in the Kettlewell in or Kettlewell out squad, but unbelievable this is our 5th away game in 23 days, so Ā£125 ish per adult plus travel, food, etc, and our manager has nothing to say to the fans. Unbelievableā€¦

As a fan owned club, he really needs to do better.
