Kmcalpin
Unfortunately plenty of refereeing issues tonight. I'll add another. I thought it was a yellow card offence to boot the ball away after a free kick was awarded. Rarely implemented these days. Tonight a Killie player booted the ball over the East Stand and out of the ground. Never seen that before. No action taken by ref!

The baw going over the east stand roof is the least of Willie Collums problems 😂
Orinoco
It seem every time the refs and managers get together to discuss issues, standards get worse. With technology there is no excuse to not get the basics right. The refs get decent money for what is part time work. Humans make mistakes, but some of the latest make you question their integrity. Over the years there have been some awful corrupt refs. With var it was hoped this would help. It has not and made things worse or at least highlight how bad the officials are. Kmcalpin
VAR is not the problem. Its down to the officials administering it.

joewarkfanclub
I have to say I have no complaints re VAR from last night. 2 big decisions, the red card and the penalty claim, and imho they get them both right. They send the ref to the monitor to reverse the red card (not their fault he doesnt) and I dont think there is much Gordon can do with the handball as its blasted right at him (probably woulda been given last season). Last nights problem was an officious referee out of his depth.
sinjy
When Collum ran out at Fir Park the reaction of most was Oh no it will all be about him and it usually was. Now he is the man in charge. What do you expect?
dennyc
9 hours ago, Kmcalpin said: VAR is not the problem. Its down to the officials administering it. As you say. The VAR did his job correctly last night. The red card was all about the referee. You would think any appeal would be successful. But given how the referee team will now circle the wagons, I would not be surprised if they uphold the decision and then fine SK for his comments. Very interesting to see if Collum is as vocal about last night as he was on Sunday. I think he will avoid criticism of the match official and say his VAR team followed procedures correctly, but the match referee made the decision as he saw it. VAR not having the final say as it was down to the referee's interpretation rather than a factual overrule. On a broader scale, we have seen 4 recent examples involving Motherwell where it has been acknowledged the officials got it badly wrong. Given how we really only focus on Motherwell, I wonder how many such errors fans of other teams could cite. It all points to the terrible state of refereeing in this country. For me that is the real issue that needs addressed. But then I would happily ditch VAR as well.
Ya Bezzer!
There is a lot of inexperienced referees at the top level right now, probably more than there ever has been before. It's not going to get better any time soon. Then you throw in VAR and the fact that the laws of the game are being re-defined almost on a bi-annual basis and it just makes things even worse. wellfan
Bloc protest. The weasels go on strike. Foreign refs come in. Scrap VAR and use the money saved to fund those refs. Problem solved.
Orinoco
As I've said their is more footage easily available for referees to study and improve. The fact the officials is getting worse is not a good look for those in charge.
Kmcalpin
Just watched the TV highlights of the game. Our defending at Killie's goal was criminal. Attacking players only 6 yards from goal in plenty of space! The red card? No way. Casey grabs Armstong's shirt at chest level. Not the first time Armstrong's been involved in trouble. Why was he booked? Having reviewed the footage, he seems to catch Casey's foot badly enough for him to react angrily. Was that why he was booked? It seems to me he could well have have received 2 yellow cards and was fortunate not to.
texanwellfan Posted yesterday at 04:33 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:33 PM Casey’s red card is worst decision I can remember, made so by the fact he got to review it on VAR. i take that back, rangers penalty against us in Scottish semi on ‘70’s but I put that down to cheating. So, aside from these two, what’s the worst call you remember?

So, aside from these two, what’s the worst call you remember? At least JRP Gordon was caught taking a bung from AS Roma a while later but that was the most bitter disappointment I've experienced as a 'Well fan because it was so blatant, especially since Willie P. had been hacked down by Greig at the Rangers end a few minutes before the ref decided to give them a penalty for nothing. Not on the same scale but Kipré's sending off and "penalty" in the 2017 LC final and McGregor's dive for a penalty in injury time to avoid Celtic's first league defeat of the season spring to mind. joewarkfanclub
The 1976 Scottish Cup Semi Final takes some beating. Kipre's red card in the 2017 League Cup Final is up there. But the worst refereeing decision Ive ever seen is the free kick against Alan Hutton in the Scotland v Italy game at Hampden in Nov 2007. If only Faddys hammys woulda stretched far enough it might not have been an issue!
