I see that both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have requested that a non-Turk referees their next game and a Slovenian has been appointed.

I was thinking that Celtic and Rangers could do with something similar (and VAR too) to stop their whining.

That got me thinking that maybe we should be moving in the direction of a pool of fullrime professional European, British and Irish referees that can officiate in any top flight league games. It would cut down on any conscious or unconscious bias and maybe would bring up the standard of the weaker officials i.e. ours.

I’ve said for a while now that VAR officials should be from a foreign country, there no reason why video footage can’t be reviewed elsewhere instead of in Scotland by officials who have might take the view that they will back up the referee and won’t highlight another’s screw ups as long as they do the same at a later date.

You could have the best referees and Var officials in the world, the best VAR technology available, but it would not change the fundamental problem with VAR, it ruining the game, forget all this " clear and Obvious error" nonsense they keep spouting, it's sole purpose is to actively seek out reasons to disallow goals, get players sent off etc, what's the point of having a referee on the pitch.

I watched a game last week and there was a near 4 min delay to confirm a goal ffs, the enjoyment of celebrating a goal is being slowly taken away from the fans.

It needs binned ASAP
