Is Callan Elliot definitely away? Don't remember seeing it on the website.

Yes, he's defo off joining a new team in the new Zealand league apparently.

Nobody is 100% certain he ever really existed.

If it is Auckland FC he's joining, they'll be competing in the Australian A-League as an expansion team.

Well with the season over I can comfortably say that's probably the worst defensive unit i've seen 3 CS in 38 games is criminal

Must be the worst I've seen since our relegation in the 1979/79 season. I didn't know this off the top of my head (although I remember it being woeful), but a quick google shows we shipped 86 goals in 36 games.

Obviously we have to make the defensive fixes but before we do that....

Our top 6 performers this season in my view.

Biereth - already gone

Spittal - going

Gent - loan, will return to parent club

Miller - attracting interest from other clubs

Bair - attracting interest from other clubs

McGinn - out of contract, turning 34.

A few others could considered:

Spencer - gone; positive outlet once Kettlewelll realised he wasn't a LWB.

Davor - under contract; tightened up the DM position, allowing Miller to flourish.

Vale - end of loan; introduced tenacity up front until Kettlewell nullified his threat by dropping him too deep.

We need 8 new starters. Only Miller, Casey and Bair are good enough to be considered first choices.

Blaney, Paton, Davor and Moses are squad players. That's why we need to let McGinn, Slattery, O'Donnell and Halliday go so we can use the wages to bring in the quality we need. We can't keep on passing money away on guys who aren't good enough to start.

Spencer started well but got dragged down by playing out of position.

Davor wouldn't get a game for any other team in our league, Livi have three better midfielders than him. His one attempt at playing a forward pass yesterday missed by about 25 yards.

Vale hasn't looked like scoring a goal apart from a couple of injury time goals when County and Livi had chucked it. He's a good athlete but not much of a footballer.

I agree overall, but the jury is still out on Moses, for me. You may be right, but its too early to form a definitive conclusion. I'd maybe retain SOD, as experienced back up. McGinn was a steadying influence for much of the season but his form tailed off. At 33 going on 34, his legs won't be a strong as they were this season and he's not going to be of the same standard. .

Six sub appearances, not even played 90 minutes in total and he has scored twice and assisted with a goal, it would have been two if it weren't for Oli Shaw, but I'm quite pleased with Moses' contribution all things considered.

Hopefully the much awaited release list will be published this week. We don't want to read about too many "Contract offered but awaiting response" entries.

I think that is going to be the case. No offense to the guy but hopefully Obika is on the released list, Butcher and Maguire are the only real names I think that will be concrete. There were rumours of Mugabi heading to Dundee United. Apparently, it's going to be a busy few weeks.

He was meant to be back up this season and played every game because Kettlewell decided it was the best use of our resources to bring in a guy in his 30s who has broken every bone in his body on a short term deal plus FIVE u21 players on loan at wingback. And the Australian no hoper. So seven short term deals to cover two positions. Genius at work....

Get shot of him and use the money sign someone younger on a two year deal to give us some consistency.

I mostly agree, but only as Casey hasn't had the best season. He's a solid SPL player and carries a goal threat, so I hope having a proper pre-season this time will help him.

I don't see us releasing all 4 of those you suggest. Halliday already has a 1-year deal, unfortunately, and I can see Kettlewell wanting SOD and McGinn. Slattery, however, may well want something different as he recovers.

Spencer proved he was good enough for us and more, no thanks to Kettlewell.

Whilst not a world-beater, Davor did have a hand in our changed fortunes. He's a decent squad player.

I think Vale could go on to have a decent career, but probably not at the English Championship level.

I'd be very surprised if any of the aforementioned players went possibly apart from Slattery who might want to go elsewhere after he recovers.

As for Halliday he's been offered a one year deal so to let him go would presumably cost us money.

Moses has played 45 mins of football in total. Think it's too early to make a decision about whether he's a squad player or not.

I personally think Slattery is a much better player than some of the players you are suggesting we keep.

As someone else has said, he can't have signed a permanent deal as he's still on Hearts' books. There may be a PCA or gentleman's agreement but that's it.

I'd be very surprised if it were a gentlemans agreement.

Surely given the fact that other clubs were after him he would want some kind of security. If there was a PCA can Motherwell cancel it? Everything on the Internet re Halliday makes clear that his deal was going to become permanent in the summer.

Hopefully Halliday will be a gentleman and agree he is finished at this level. I noticed he didnt make the matchday squad yesterday although there was no mention of him being injured.

He was injured I believe - there was talk of him being a doubt during the week.

Didnt hear Ketts reference it after Hibs and no mention on the matchday squad, although SOD and Casey dropping to the bench were both highlighted.

Rikki Lamie's was cancelled when Dundee were last relegated but that may have been a specific relegation clause.
