I would hope we have asked if Hutchison would be interested on a return to Fir Park . If you don’t ask you don’t get

15 games, last start on New Year's Day, 34 in November. There would be an awful lot of questions needing answered if we were interested in Hutchison.

As I've said a few times now, I'm certainly not saying he's not had a poor season or should be absolved of blame. The point I'm making is that he's only as good as the defence in front of him, and vice versa.

It's no real surprise that he's had his better seasons for us when we've had a better defence.

Absolutely.

Quite apart from his form, his attributes are incompatible with the guys in front of him and the system we play. He/they have not been a good fit.

He started off well, when he first signed, but his form this season has been poor. The defence has had to alter its gamplean to compensate for his lack of height and weakness in the air. That said, our defence and midfield haven't gven him the cover a keeper is entitled to. Best for both parties if he moves on.

U never know what yer getting as last season proved

Also true, you can never be certain of any signing, but sometimes there are wee clues or lessons to be learned. A guy approaching his mid 30s who is repeatedly out with the same 'niggling' problem - sounds familiar.

And who's fault is that? Kettlewell. He’s had more than one chance to address the central defence but chose to sign umpteen wingbacks instead.

I honestly thought you meant Les but yes, Shaun could probably help our defence.

Nothing about his age but the fact as you say he has had the same recurring injury a calf one that's kept him out for 60 days in total on and off  last season screams to to me it's the last thing we need.

However a defender like Hutchy is 100 percent what we need just not one that's injury prone.

No one is saying he's bigger than the club. You are being overly dramatic.

You don’t have to actually say it to ‘say it’. We’ve seen this script far too many times with us bringing back McFadden and giving him game time when he was clearly done, yet he could do no wrong in the eyes of some fans. The same applies to Moult during his ill fated loan spell in 2022 and I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever it would be the same with van Veen should he come back over a year older, unfit and contributing next to nothing.

We as a club need to learn to look forward not backwards when it comes to recruitment. Kevin van Veen has had his time with us, it was great while it lasted but it’s done, it’s past and we move on, or at least we should move on.

Here’s a novel idea, instead of trying to re-sign Kevin van Veen, Shaun Hutchinson(that one really would take the biscuit and fucking choke on it btw) and other popular ex players, why don’t we try and find new players who could hopefully contribute what KvV and Shaun Hutchinson etc did when they were younger, fitter and able to offer us more?

Well reasoned and sensible posts like that don't suit you normally, are you feeling OK? 😀

Or the guy who replaced him when out was a better player

I'm all in favour of that, in fact that is most definitely the way forward. Got to remember though that this is a fans forum and most fans are unlikely to have any idea of what's available beyond former stars and players of the same league. I've every confidence the club will think outside the box and unearth a few gems.

U might wait a long time for that given their track record

You would just moan like fuk about them if we did that, say they were shite before they even played and in hindsight say we should have went for experience.

I give every single player who we sign my backing and support. I’ve never came on here and written off a player whom I’d never seen play, only a judgemental idiot would do such a thing, and I certainly am not one of those. :)

*Kevin van Veen’s agent likes this post.*

How do you say “Hey Kev, you know those mugs Motherwell yeah? Well there’s already some posts on their biggest online fans forum begging them to bring you back so you can recreate your purple patch from your previous spell there” in Dutch? 🤔

“Hoi Kev, ken jij deze idiooten van Motherwell ja? Goed daar is heeft al sommige opmerkingen op de online forum van h*n grootste voetbalfans bedelarij jij om terug te komen dus jij paarse plek van jouw vorige keer daar vermaken”

Still trying to improve my Dutch, my grammar in Dutch is quite bad.

We need to be upbeat, for all our defence is poor and 5 home wins a feckin embarrassment we always seem to find a knack of finding strikers that score a good few. This season The Bair surprised us all. Maybe next season Moses could be that man
