I see Devante Cole has been released by Barnsley, we could use some of the Bair cash to temp him back to Fir Park as his replacement.

His form really dropped off a cliff; he'd scored 13 by December and only managed five since then, three of them in January; seems like he was released rather than him choosing to leave. Not sure he's the type of striker we need?

I'd expect him to get a decent deal in and around League One.

If there is a 15-20 goals a season out there who is available and who we have heard of, you can guarantee we can't afford him.

Whoever we sign will be someone with potential, not an impressive track record.

Careful, that will be construed as 'lacking ambition' and 'being oot yer depth' with that kind of patter.

Ross County and Dundee have brought two guys in that range in.  Although in the former case it remains to be seen if he can do it here.

Dundee signed Simon Murray who I would have happily seen in claret and amber.

Having watched Hale for Larne and Cliftonville over the past few seasons, I'd much rather have taken him than Murray. Forward thinking, pacy and never scores a bad goal. Can also be a bit of a shit-stirrer too.

Dundee and Ross county have owners with deep pockets who are happy to fork out wads for specific players e.g. Charlie Adam.

The exact opposite of the model we are currently operating.

And a model that has put Dundee into administration twice in recent years - including a 23 million pound debt and having to sell their stadium.

If the choice is between that and developing another Bair, I know my preference.

We've done not too badly at unearthing successful strikers in recent years. Chris Porter, Scott MacDonald, John Sutton, Michael Higdon,  Louis Moult, KVV, and now Theo Bair. No reason why that can't continue.

The Herald are reporting those numbers too. Great bit of business and credit to SK and the team that worked with him behind the scenes on analytics.
