Aye, I do have a bit of confidence now that Sparrow seems to be adding some forward thinking runs/passes to his game. I'm by no means a fan of Paton, but again, his desire to carry the ball and be more attacking than Halliday is welcome - the link between Miller/other DMC has been missing all season; if we can get that sorted hopefully it'll lead to us being more efficient in our attack. You could argue that the first half against St Johnstone was full of promise from that perspective; we created a fair bit and Stama and Maswanhise could be a really effective front two. The issue that came in the second half was them nullifying our most effective outball in Marv down the right and Kettlewell (surprise surprise) not really adjusting for it. scoojy
Just on Miller - I remember somebody bumping their gums on here (don't remember who) about his workrate off the ball, and how he doesn't do enough. BBC Sport have an article today highlighting the stat that he's recovered the ball 72 times in 11 games. More than anyone else in the league. As well as being 11th in the league for interceptions. He's either improved his defensive game in the last few weeks, or whoever it was has not been watching the same games as the rest of us 1
El Grew
The bigot bros media lackeys are always moaning about a lack of competition in our top league yet every time a promising young player pops up they immediately start touting for him to go to them. I just hope young Miller and his dad look past that crap and look further afield for his future. A move to either of the bigot bros would not help his development one little bit as he’d still be playing in exactly the same league as he is with us now.
weeyin
I hope Miller moves abroad for his career development, but it would be hilarious if he ended up signing for his Dad's old team, Aberdeen. The OF media would have a meltdown.

In fairness, I don't think the media and journalists in question really care all that much, it's all about keywords for online media. And Rangers and Celtic draw more clicks than any other teams in this part of the world. It's why they shoehorn every possible reference to those clubs into their articles. Clicks. Kmcalpin
Certainly some wheeling and dealing required in January. Midfield and striking departments need sorting out, and thats taking into account returning injured parties.

If we're going to persist with punts up the park then I'd just like us to sign a big 6'4" brick shithouse of a No9. He doesn't even have to be a terribly good footballer, just able to win high balls and hold defenders off. Maybe just maybe with Nicholson and Slattery nearly ready and Paton just about there, we might have a semblance of a midfield and take the pressure off Miller (if he chooses to stick around that is). Kmcalpin
I"d be keen to sign a 6'4 brick shithouse anyway. There are games where such a player is useful and the long ball is a necessity.

Aberdeen lost money last term and no where near getting prospect like Lennon

Wouldn't hold much hope for the 3 midfield players you mentioned. Wouldn't have given Slattery or Paton contracts.

Paton I don't mind but slattery just brings back memories of Charles Dunne and Tanner, giving them contracts when injured where no chance of recovering
Kmcalpin
Irrespective of returning midfielders, we are badly in need of a combative defensive midfielder in the Davor mould only bigger and nastier. Someone to shield our defence and allow us to defend further up the park

Suppose at least Tanner had more skill.
