A rumour on P & B that Ross Callachan is out for the season. No harm to the lad and I hope he recovers, but if true, that's one wasted wage. He did come with a bad injury record.

Callahan was a known crock so this is unsurprising. It’s not his fault, but Kettlewell giving him a contract has cost the club his wage and that of An Other. We have a 28-man first team squad FFS.

Even a fit Callaghan is a pretty poor signing . He struggled with spl level with hearts and stjohnstone albeit had an OK spell with Raith .

Risking a contract on 30/ 31 year old who had an injury would be understandable if it was someone making a big step down in their career but to do it on someone who struggled with other spl clubs is poor .

He was never going to be signed as a regular though - he was signed to make up a squad and play a part as a rotational squad player which on his day has been good enough to play in the premier league as he showed against us plenty of times so it was an astute signing, but unfortunate his injuries have never cleared up - again not something Kettlewell can control, we are always going to have 10 players out of 28 that are gambles....

He was anything but astute,he's an average player that's had a number of serious injuries over the past few years,he should never have been signed.we keep hearing we have no money and running on a tight budget,we can't be gambling like this when it comes to handing out contracts.

Taking a risk on someone coming back from injury isn't a terrible idea in isolation. However, we signed Callachan when our main midfielder in slattery was out for a year, and we already had Nicholson and paton who have been injury prone, and halliday who cant last 90. Then add the fact that we knew Miller was on borrowed time with us, and you can see the whole midfield recruitment strategy was a shambles. Especially when we lost our best player from last year in that position.

On the squad size. We had a number of injuries at the start of the season, so that has to be a factor in making more signings than planned. If Nicholson wasn't injured, would we have got maswanhise? Are the loan kids inuded in the 28? How many players are fit and not in the match day squad each week? A couple? If we had our usual squad of, say 23, we'd be royally fucked with the injuries right now.

We got a good turn out of Wilson due to seddons injury, but he seems to be feeling it now, as tends to haplen with young players. Are any of the other young players real prospects? I'm not seeing much from  their loan exploits to suggest so.

Whatever money we do get for Miller, would you trust SK with it, just think if he doesn’t change his current formation then it’s time to move on and try something new.

I was talking to my mate about that not so long ago but think of it this way he spent I am pretty sure a six figure sum on Stam and hasn't used him properly since day one then it be a stick in  the safe we haven't been paid yet for me lol.

Id like to think the premium for Miller in this window would be higher than what we'd get in summer. For his personal development now feels a decent time for Miller to move on, preferably abroad.

Equally I'd like to see the club stimulate change in this window by offloading/loaning fringe players.

We need something as fans to get behind and a shrewd move by the club is to start offloading and brining in something different - even if it's just loan signings or brining back some of our loanees to give them the opportunity.

FWIW I'd accept 9th in the league if I could see some form of plan/strategy that at least made the oppositions defence work.  Not looking for total football but reasonable to expect a team to get shots on target/make chances and get the old ticker beating faster.
