I mean, he signed Bair, Biereth, Furlong, Gent, Spencer, AP, JT, Gordon, Seddon, Kaleta, all if whom seem to be consensus good signings. He has got Miller to this stage, and improved Max and Spittal to the degree that they got good moves. Wilson has flagged lately but it wasn't that long ago we were all raving about him too.  He also got a ridiculous tune out of KVV, and an equally ridiculous fee, but we prob don't want to talk about that one much.

I know he's signed a fair few duds as well, but I'm genuinely interested to see his hit rate compared to other managers, and what other clubs our size have been selling folk for.

Very good point,  who is JT though?

He's signed 34 players for Motherwell. There are 36 on the list but Halliday and Vale were both signed twice.

Some decent, some great, some average, some crap, and some complete flops.

34, not 36.

Exactly this!!! You also missed out Kelly moving to Rangers albeit most would agree that was an incredible move based on his performances last season however you've got to credit him for this, incredible effort on a shoestring budget. Begs the question why as a club we are not approaching an Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd etc and asking them for a loan agreement.....

I wish we could go back and have stats like this for when Tommy McLean was our manager. A list of signed players made by him would have made your eyes bleed and send this forum into a frenzy.

i suppose for every hundred duffers he got a Cooper right enough.

not sure we'd sign him if that opportunity came up as we ignore wingers.

Poor Davy if he did get signed would be put into a wingback position and get dropped for not tracking back enough

In today’s game they probably wouldn’t play him as he didn’t run 10k during a game. Halliday gets away with it as he jogs 10k around the centre circle in 90mins.

cooper would run about 1km during a match but create about 40 goal scoring chances. Magnificent player.

I just hope that he doesn't take the lazy option like Turnbull did. He had at least one other option in Norwich which would have challenged him and he would have had a familiar face in Kenny McLean to mentor him. Hopefully Miller will look at how well Max is doing.

I do know what you sort of mean with Turnbull but let’s be fair, he went to them and won 2 titles, 2 Scottish cups and 2 league cups and also played in an environment which demanded winning on a weekly basis, playing in front of 60000 people and regular champions league matches.  He wouldn’t have got that at Norwich.

hes been very unlucky with injuries(as seems to be the case at the moment as well) if it wasn’t for injuries im sure he’d have been in a better place just now and still be around the Scotland squad.

Lewis Ferguson might win nothing in his career but he's playing every week in Serie A against some of the best players in the world and is team captain.

Ultimately, it's down to what motivates individual players - and even that might change at different stages of a career.

If I had the talent, I'd be very much in the Lewis Ferguson camp, getting as much as I could from living and playing in Italy.

I can see, however, how a diehard Celtic fan would be attracted to playing for them early in their career and winning leagues or trophies with their boyhood heroes.

It's been great to see Scottish players thrive abroad in recent times. For a long time, many were following the "big move south - quiet move back north" career development plan.

Maybe not right away if he went to Norwich but possibly after a year or two and with a bigger better club than Celtic but we’ll never know now.
