Can only hope he does well for us but signing a guy who can't get in the squad of 24th in League 2 feels underwhelming.

It does indeed, but I understand there are reasons for that, and Carlisle are a club in complete disarray. Suppose we should remember we got Louis Moult from a club in non league and he was meant to be back up to Wes Fletcher, and look what happened, sometimes a player fits, lets hope so

He will score fuck all with the game plans employed by SK

Not fussed how many he scores. If he can hold the ball up, bring others into play and get us up the pitch it will be an improvement to what we have been seeing recently.

Obviously the odd goal here and there would help, but I dont think thats why we are signing him.

We beed a foil for Stama when he comes back. A Bowman for our Moult so to speak. If he can do that we will have won a watch.

Luke Armstrong joins on loan.

Can anyone recall the last time we had a 30-man (not including players out on loan) first team squad?

Hammell's squad that SK inherited couldn't have been far off it - remember Casey and Butcher wearing number 52 and 66 for instance...we had players like Crankshaw etc who only played 1 or 2 games!

Some going for a club with such a tiny teeny shoestring budget eh?

But that said welcome on board to Luke Armstrong, hope he can provide a positive impact.

Kilmarnock, Fleetwood and Burton were all apparently in for him... we are running an enormous first team squad. Mind you I wouldn't imagine we wont be keeping more than 1 or 2 of those permanent deal who are out of contract in the summer. Well I'd hope.

Out of this huge squad, how many fit players are being left out of the match day squad each week?

Thankfully 8 of the squad are loans, and a few coming out of contract, so we should be able to clean things up in the summer.

This massive squad will quickly eat into the Bair money. It’s not sustainable and can’t happen again next season.

If we have to deal with the same number and frequency of injuries next season we have serious problems.

There are options to trim the squad. The likes of Callachan could be mutualled surely? The loans for Tavares or even Watt could be terminated presumably? Could Ebiye and Koutroumbis be loaned out? If Jordan McGhee signs this month could Davor be loaned out or mutualled? Not all of these options would be feasible of course but there are possibilities. SK did hint at one or two moving out.

Thats exactly it for me. We badly need someone up front to compete physically with the Jack Sanders of the world, hold the ball up and bring others like Vale, Stama or Manwhanise (if he's played close enough) into play. Thats what we've missed and a physical target man was a must last summer. I have no idea why one wasn't signed.

I get that point completely but even if we get that hold up player we have a shocking midfield that will try and feed off it. I would like to see SK try and strengthen the midfield and certainly move on some of the players you mention in another post
