He’s in some good company in that squad. McTomminay and Ferguson doing well in Italy. McGinn and Christie key players for two good sides in this years EPL

Max Johnston back in the squad too.

Sadly he’ll probably play second fiddle to Patterson (playing that poor that he’s been told to get his act together by Moye’s)and Ralston (most Celtic fans even think he’s a liability) as Clarke’s an idiot.

Patterson isn’t in the squad, but I agree that Ralston will probably be picked ahead of of Max because Steve Clarke…

No doubt. I'm under no illusion that Miller or Johnston will get any game time, but from a selfish perspective just being in the squad should add a few more quid to Miller's value.

Probably should have checked the squad before my rant but the sentiment remains :)

Edit: should also check I’m quoting the right post as well, was meant to be a reply to Wellfans reply to me.

I would be hoping our new manager will handle our best young talent in years well. With a lot of European contacts and experiance of advising young talent he could provide good advice and a market further afield. Also taking the captaincy off such a young player was a good move so he could concentrate on his game with no distractions.

So one out of how many? and we probably got market value for reynolds, he didn't exactly excel

Think only criticism was we turned down £750k from rangers the previous season.   But yes overall we have a good record.  Ben Heneghan another great of business

We dodged a bullet as no doubt Rangers would have insisted on jnstallsments and then stiffed us when they were liquidated.

Just a question to everyone is it time to end the Nick Daws era at the club change things on that front?

He was really only brought in as he had worked for Alexander before so surely as that's Hammell and Kettlewell gone it's time for a change in that dept aswell.

If he can find us another Mika Biereth, I'm OK with that.

I doubt it's too difficult for a scout to identify individuals that suit different managers' preferences, so while I'm not against a change, I'm not sure it would make a whole lot of difference. Especially with the data driven approach clubs like to take these days.

I've not been Daws' biggest fan, but I'm as guilty as most at focusing on the duds he signed, rather than comparing his "hit rate" to other clubs, all of whom churn through their fair share of shite each season as well.

You have to give him KVV, Spittal, Bair,  Slattery, and maswanhise, and maybe AP and some very good loans with Biereth and Gent, and decent good-if-not-world-beating additions such as Spencer, Ox, woolery and Casey.

I don't think he gets a bye for signing permacrocks though. Slattery's injury was horrible luck, but Ojala, Callachan and Nicholson all had a poor injury history before joining us, and there's no surprises as to what happened next.

I also don't think his scouring of the globe has been successful, unless the likes of Sol, Davor, Moses, and Efford were significantly cheaper than their local alternatives.

Overall he's probably done a decent job in the circumstances (budget, multiple managers, injuries, etc) but I wouldn't say he has such a golden touch that we'd fall apart if we switched him for someone else. He's also as responsible for us signing Josh Morris as KVV, so there's that

Not here to defend him - but is he responsible. I always thought his role was to "identify" targets - after that the "football department" and ultimately the manager made the call on the signing.

It’s pretty clear that Stama is made of tissue paper, so it’s time to cut our losses at the end of the season and find someone else willing to pay his wages.

Injuries just seem to be bad luck rather than anything he was carrying.  Definitely a player there but needs a proper run

I’d be more sympathetic if it was his ankle, but he plays football not handball, so I’ve no idea why he won’t be fit to play for at least 8 weeks.

Even with a proper run, as you suggest, there are no signs so far to suggest that he wouldn’t continually breakdown during that either.

His run of no less than 3 not insignificant injuries since arriving is very bad luck indeed, but also indicative of someone who’s perhaps not robust enough for his role.

We don't know how serious the wrist injury is. Wimmer yesterday was talking about how him and SOD were in contention for Saturday so seems like freakish training ground injury.  Wasn't injury prone before we signed him

I broke my wrist years ago when I fell over in the snow. So little pain involved that I thought I had just sprained it.

Turned out the scaphoid bone was fractured and required a bone graft and a titanium screw, because that bone doesn't have much of a blood supply and often won't heal on it own.

It was in a cast for 4 or 5 weeks and the surgery damaged all the nerves in my hand - I couldn't even touch the tip of my thumb to the tip of my index finger. I couldn't have played football for about a month after that as any contact to my hand, or worse, falling on it, might have damaged the recovery.

And that was a nothing break.

Putting the finer details of the wrist injury aside and the point that he wasn’t injury prone before we signed him, the reality now is that he has become very injury prone since we signed him.

We apparently paid a large fee for him and he’ll likely be on equally large wages. I don’t want to get into the conspiracies currently being bandied around social media and P&B about him. Therefore, I only question whether this is a loss we can sustain or should we cut it? I suggest the latter.

He won't be fit to play because he'll probably be in plaster. The club can't risk playing someone with a broken wrist.

When I broke my wrist I did it after a fall - it's easier than you think to fall and land awkwardly and break a bone.
